I Trust You

By the time Jake got out of the bathroom, Haewon was exchanging texts with Charlotte, who was curious to know how her date was going.

"Who are you texting?" Jake asked curiously when he saw the grin on her face, alerting her of his presence.

"Oh! It's Charlotte," Haewon said as she raised her head in time to see Jake's scowl.

"Why don't you like her?" Haewon asked with a frown as she set her phone aside and rose to face him.

If he was going to be her boyfriend, she needed him to get along with her best friend. It didn't make sense that he didn't like Charlotte when he barely even knew her.

"I never said I didn't like her," Jake said as he towel-dried his hair.

He was dressed now in a white t-shirt and plaid shorts.

"Do you like her then?" Haewon asked, and Jake shrugged indifferently.

"Do I have to? I'm indifferent. I told you, I like keeping to myself and minding my business. It's not about her. It's about me," Jake said, and Haewon eyed him hesitantly for a moment.
