Family Tradition

Ivy and Gabe were both seated in comfortable silence after they had made their orders.

Ivy didn't know what to say since she had a feeling that Gabe might be feeling overwhelmed by memories of his family.

"We could leave if it stirs up too many unpleasant memories," Ivy suggested wanting to break the silence.

"No. I'm fine. Thank you," He assured her, and Ivy gave a small smile.

"I hope you don't mind that I chose such a restaurant without asking you first?" Gabe asked apologetically.

"This is the fourth time you've asked me that since we arrived. It's fine," She said, and just then, a robust lady dressed in an old-fashioned gown and hair bonnet came with a wooden tray to serve their meal.

"Thank you, Ivy," Gabe said after the waiter left, and he looked down at his plate of Irish nachos.

He had fought with his little sister over the last piece on the plate the last time they had been there.
