CHAPTER 128: DIANA'S ANALYSIS

CHAPTER 128: DIANA'S ANALYSIS

James turned to look at Diana, who had already taken a seat next to him. She bit her lip and glanced back at Harry, smirking.

"Alright, fine," she drawled dryly. "I feel extremely weak and tired." She rolled her eyes at Jared before continuing, "My nipples also ache badly and are extremely sensitive."

Jared coughed awkwardly, drawing snide looks from both James and Harry. They quickly returned their attention to Diana, who cleared her throat and continued.

"And I'm nauseated all the time too."

"Your next scan is in two weeks, right?" Harry asked.

"Yes, boss," Diana replied.

"Okay. Until then, try not to stress yourself too much at work and eat more protein-rich foods, alright?" Harry advised.

Diana nodded as he added, "If the symptoms still persist by your next scan, I'll run more tests."

Harry shifted his gaze to James. "Care to explain what happened?"

James clenched his jaw, fists tightening as his body radiated tension. Diana placed her hand on his to calm him, then turned to Harry.

"I made him angry, and then it happened. He turned away before..."

James cut her off, his voice low and intense. "When I turned away from her, I could feel myself burning up, unable to breathe. It was... suffocating."

"Let me guess," Jared interjected. "Since you didn't manage to kill anyone, your powers turned on you, suffocating you instead."

"Pretty much," James admitted.

Harry nodded thoughtfully. "I guess we've learned something new today. Whenever the urge hits, you have to kill someone. If you resist, it finds a way to consume you."

"More like the adverse effect of him not killing when the urge comes is unbearable," Diana suggested.

"I like that theory," Harry said, smiling at her.

Diana returned the smile and nodded, while Jared smirked and rolled his eyes. Diana grinned mischievously at him and stuck out her tongue.

Their playful exchange didn't escape James's notice, his sharp eyes tracking every movement.

Nicodemus entered just then, interrupting James. "Sir, your dinner is ready," he announced with a bow before exiting.

Diana turned to James. "Come on, let's eat."

James shook his head, prompting Diana to raise an eyebrow. "Aren't you worried about getting sick from the smell?" She playfully pinched his cheek and frowned. "I won't."

"Are you sure?" Harry asked.

Diana stood and walked towards the door, the men watching her. "I'm sure, Harry. Aren't you coming?"

"Of course, Sister-in-law," Jared said cheerfully, draping an arm around her shoulders. Diana jabbed him in the ribs, eliciting a groan. She then turned to take her husband's arm.

James smirked at Jared and rolled his eyes as he walked past.

"I'll talk to Victor, and we'll find out about the new development." Harry commented beside them.

"Okay."

"And how the hell do you walk around with a tranquilizer?" James asked.

"Well," Jared explained as they headed downstairs, "Victor said, 'just in case.' He perfected the formula. You know the previous one knocked you out for hours? This one only lasts thirty minutes."

At the dinner table, Harry outlined the next steps they planned to take to help James manage his powers, as they still hadn't found a cure. Since it was business-related, Diana remained quiet, simply watching James as he ate.

After dinner, James saw his brother and friend to the door, while Diana waved goodbye from the living room.
