CHAPTER 127: MAKING PROMISES

CHAPTER 127: MAKING PROMISES

Diana entered their room and saw her husband lying on the bed, his eyes closed. One of his arms rested across his face, while the other was stretched out on the bed. The soft creak of the door made James open his eyes. He saw Diana standing there, and he sat up immediately.

"Diana," he called hoarsely, his voice laced with concern. "Are you okay? Did I hurt you?"

Diana shook her head as tears began streaming down her face. Without a word, she walked to the bed and wrapped her arms around him, sobbing into his shoulder.

James was stunned. He had expected her to come in and yell, pack her bags, and announce she was leaving him for good. Instead, she was holding him tightly.

Gently, he pulled her out of the embrace to look at her face. "What is going on, Diana?"

"What do you think is going on, you dumbhead?" she retorted, a small smile breaking through her tears. "I told you it would be hard for you to get rid of me. I'm not that easy to shake off."

As James opened his mouth to respond, Diana placed a finger on his lips.

"I'm sorry," she said softly. "I never should have trusted Cassandra over you. I was wrong. And I never should have threatened you—using myself or our baby like that. It wasn't fair."

She took his hand and placed it gently on her stomach.

"This baby is ours," she continued, her voice steady with determination. "Our creation. We will raise and love this baby together, no matter what. Treasure, I'm here to stay," she said, her face beaming with love. "Even if I threaten to leave, I don't mean it. No matter where I go, I will always come back to you."

Diana cupped his face, her eyes glistening with sincerity.

"I now understand so much more about you—about your powers and how they work. You don't need to hide from me anymore or keep secrets Babe. Nothing you tell me now could ever change how I feel about you."

James felt his eyes sting with unshed tears as he choked out, "Diana, I nearly killed you and our baby. Shouldn't you be staying away from me? I'm dangerous, baby."

"Shh," Diana murmured, placing her forehead against his. "You didn't kill us, James. You stopped yourself at the last minute. Besides, if I hadn't pushed you so far, it wouldn't have happened. As long as you don't get that angry again, we'll be fine." She smiled softly.

"I promise," James whispered, cradling her face in his hands. "I promise to control it—for you."

Diana exhaled in relief. "Now I'm reassured," she said, leaning in to kiss him gently.

James pulled her closer, deepening the kiss, pouring all his love and warmth into that single moment. When he finally pulled back, Diana was smiling at him.

"Oh, and just to clarify—I don't have other girls," James added, his tone slightly sullen.

"I know," Diana replied, her smile widening. "Your brother already told me almost everything."

As if on cue, said brother walked into the room with Harry. "Well, looks like the lovebirds have patched things up," Jared commented sarcastically.

Harry slapped the back of his head and stepped further into the room. "How are you two doing?" he asked.

"Have you checked on her?" James asked urgently. "Is she alright? And the baby—are they okay?"

"They're both fine, James," Harry reassured him. "But she hasn't told me much about the symptoms she's been experiencing. She thinks the medicine I prescribed is taking too long to work."
