Li Xun

Xunyi woke up in the hospital after spending the night with Deming. Her neck and back got stiff after sleeping in a an awkward position last night. She got up and stretched a bit. After washing up, she thought about telling him about Li Xun's death. She stood against the washroom door and slowly sat on the floor. Xunyi remembered Deming's reaction from yesterday when she told him his parents passed away. She didn't want that to happen again.

After a while, she checked on Deming, who was still asleep. She carefully closed the door and went out to get some breakfast for them to eat. She got some water as well so they won't have to make extra trips. As she walked back, a few officers were outside the door.

"Hi, I'm Officer Feng. This is my colleague, Officer Jing. We're here to ask Mr. Jiang some questions about his relationship with Li Xun." Officer Feng asked, and Xunyi nodded, "I'll wake him up right now. Please wait for me." They nodded and gave them a few minutes.

Xunyi took a deep breath and walked towards Deming. To her surprise, he was already awake.

"Where did you go?" He asked.

Xunyi replied, "I got some breakfast for you. Deming, there are a few officers outside, and they would like to ask you some questions about Li Xun."

"What happened to Li Xun?" He asked.

"He passed away from a stabbing wound. I knew about it after you woke up, but I was planning on telling you after your parent's death. But they arrived earlier than I expected. I'm sorry for not telling you earlier." Xunyi apologized, and Deming shook his head, "It's not your fault. I understand. Let them come in."

Xunyi let the officers inside, and she stood beside Deming. She placed both of her hands on his shoulder for support. Officer Feng cleared his throat and introduced himself.

"I'm Officer Feng, you must be Mr. Jiang Deming. Am I right?"

Deming nodded, " Yes."

"What's your relationship with victim Li Xun?"

"He's my friend." Deming remained calm and collected.

"What's his relationship like with other people such as colleagues or other friends?" He asked.

"He's very understanding, a great listener. His relationship with other employees is great as well." Deming replied while feeling a lump in his throat. One of his hands reached out to Xunyi, and she held on to them.

"Do you have anyone in mind who might have an ulterior motive?" The officer asked.

"I do have someone in mind, but I don't have enough evidence yet." Deming answer.

"Do you know this person's name?"

"Jiang Mengshan. My uncle. He's in London now, so it's hard to get into contact with him."

"Thank you for your time, Mr. Jiang. If you have more information, please let us know." The officers thanked them for their time. Before they left, Deming asked them whether they were allowed to see Li Xun. They nodded, "He's in the morgue downstairs. You can ask the doctor to take you there."

Once the officers left, Deming's doctor came in to check on him. After checking everything, Deming asked him whether he could see Li Xun. The doctor nodded, "I'll ask a nurse to bring you there." A few moments later, a nurse came in and helped Deming onto the wheelchair. She asked them to follow her as they went down the elevator. She gave each one of them a mask to wear.

Once they were in the morgue, the person in charge of it came out and greeted them. He took Deming and Xunyi inside while the nurse waited outside. The person took Li Xun's corpse out. Xunyi wasn't used to looking at the corpse, let alone, Deming. She wasn't sure who stabbed Li Xun, but she swore to find whoever is behind this.

"Jiang Mengshan, if you are the one behind this. Just you wait." Xunyi muttered to herself.

After several minutes, Li Xun's parents came in. They came back from their vacation after hearing about their son's death. Li Xun's mom was devastated and screamed for his son to come back to her. His father was silent, and he clenched his hands into a fist.

"Who did this?" He asked.

"We don't know." The person who was in charge replied.

Li Xun's mother looked at Deming with a disgusting look.

"WHY! WHY ARE YOU STILL ALIVE?! MY SON DIED!! BRING HIM BACK!! BRING HIM BACK!" Li Xun's mother pulled Deming's hospital shirt, and as she was going to hit him, Xunyi used her body to protect him.

"Ms. Li, I know you are upset. We are all upset. But, you can not blame an innocent person. If your son sees your behavior, what would he think?" Li Xun's mother sat on the floor and cried hysterically.

Xunyi embraced Deming and whispered, "Were you hurt?" He shook his head and asked, "How about you? Are you hurt anywhere?"

Xunyi shook her head, "Nothing too serious. I'm fine." She looked at Li Xun's mother and said, "I'm sorry for your loss. But I know Li Xun will be watching over you."

Li Xun's father looked at Deming and said, "I wish you were dead instead of our son. What kind of friend are you? Good thing you are in the wheelchair. You deserved it." Li Xun's father took his wife away while feeling pissed off.

Xunyi maneuvered the wheelchair away from Li Xun's parents, and they stopped in the hallway.

Deming was silent, and he didn't show any expression. Xunyi adjusted his shirt so it won't get too wrinkled. She looked at him with tenderness in her eyes.

"Look at my eyes, Deming. Remember, it's not your fault. You didn't do anything wrong."

"Why him?"

Xunyi sighed. She didn't know why Li Xun was targeted. If he was targeted by Mengshan, she would have him rot in prison with no chance of parole.

She held Deming's hands tightly and comforted him.
