Remnants (4)

After what seemed like an eternity, she started hiccupping as the crying slowly receded. No more tears were coming out again. It was as if she had cried out all her tear reserves. Her eyes were puffy and bloodshot.

"I- I a-am s-or-ry," she stuttered out almost incoherently and tried to use her bathrobe to wipe the tears and snot off his that she had soiled. A futile effort it was!

"Shhhh." Jorge shushed her. He turned her tenderly around to face him on the bed. Jorge then helped her head up gently and gave her a sip of warm ginger tea that Mr Benny had left in the room.

Mr Benny had discreetly left it there when the couple were in the bath. With the state that Mirabel had been transported in, the older man knew from experience that this was the best drink. What better than a nice warm ginger tea when I was soaked to the bone?
