Terra Vs Minty

*Gasp!* "Please! Minty Stop!" *Huff, huff*

"I'm tired, I've had enough," Terra cried as he was gasping for air, Minty had not been going easy on him.

"Please, you are a representative," Minty said, "If I am not tired yet then that means you are just fine. Now hurry up and regain your stamina, we are going for round 2."

Terra was lying on the floor, and his shoulder was glowing fiercely, so much so that one could see it visibly shaking, he was slowly but surely recovering his stamina as Minty put it. Still more she had been so rough with him and simply expected him to handle it.

'Who the heck set this standard that representatives are supposed to be invincible?' he asked himself as he was getting up.

Alex who was sitting on his desk somewhere in an office building suddenly felt a slight breeze hit him.

"Did I leave a window open?" he wondered.

Up on his feet again, Terra had prepared himself for the next wave of attacks Minty would give. The two of them were in a weapon training room; almost every wall had something attached to it.

Terra at first thought that she was going to teach him how to use a weapon but she refused saying that he would need to rely on himself for it is easy to get yourself disarmed on the battlefield and his opponent may simply break his weapon.

And even if he wouldn't be disarmed he would need to learn not to rely on a weapon.

The exercise that they were doing was simply, that Terra would need only to deflect, block, or dodge any attack that she made without using any weapons while she would continuously switch hers. This would continue until she deemed him too skilled to be hit again.

Or until Terra would be capable enough to incapacitate her.

Before entering the room she had placed her firearm aside saying that she would not use it for 'this combat session.' That was the only relief Terra had gotten throughout the entirety of his being here.

From what he had gathered, every weapon in this room was either a blunt weapon or a prop, despite looking realistic they couldn't be real unless she was actually trying to hurt him, but this exercise was made to develop his skill to dodge and counterattack.

It was all about his reaction.

Terra stretched his back and was ready, Minty rushed forward this time with a sword in hand, she jumped up and tried to deliver a downward slash but Terra ducked away from her and started running towards a wall.

Minty pursued him and continuously tried to cut him up with his back facing her but each time he would move to the side to perfectly dodge the strike as if he saw them coming.

'Is he reading my attacks or getting lucky?' she wondered.

She went for a full thrust at his backside but by now he had reached the wall and jumped onto it, he used his left leg to kick himself away to the side and was now a great distance away from Minty's attack range.

Minty's sword got stuck in the wall and she left it there as she grabbed a shield that was on the wall and threw it at another wall on the other side of the room, it bounced off the wall and ricocheted itself with a great force as it hit Terrra's backside causing him to stumble on the floor and lay on his stomach.

He had just turned his focus to Minty before it hit him so he didn't have enough time to notice the attack coming.

Terra groaned from the pain but felt his body healing itself, he had been so focused on keeping a distance from her that he didn't consider her using a tactic like that. He realized that he should keep an eye on her more closely now.

As he turned around he saw Minty coming down on top of him with two daggers in her hands, "Did you climb the ceiling!?" he asked as he turned and rolled away to dodge the attack. 'There's no way she can jump that high,' he thought.

Minty had come down with so much force that the daggers had dug through the floor, she left them there and ran towards a wall to grab a katana this time. "Finally, something light," she said with a smile.

This time there was no opportunity for Terra to run away from her, as she continuously sent a slash after a slash in quick succession to try and hit him, he was doing a good job dodging but each slash was faster than the last.

Finally, she raised the blade high up and brought down a quick slash to his head, he used the palm of his hand to deflect the blade to the side, he wanted to hit the side of the blade but in his haste, he had hit his hand on the edge instead.

After deflecting the blade, Terra had moved himself backward and prepared to dodge the next set of attacks that Minty would throw at him, but nothing came. For a few seconds Minty just watched him as she stood there silently in shock.

She then realized what may have happened and proceeded to raise her blade and wipe the blood off of it.

"Blood?" Terra asked, but then he soon understood that the blood that was on the edge of the blade had come from his hand. The realization came with a sharp pain as he grabbed his bleeding hand and fell to the ground.

The hand quickly healed himself but Terra still lay on the floor for a little while longer.

"Real weapons!!?" Terra screamed, "You attacked me with real weapons!!?"

"I thought you knew," Minty replied calmly.

"No, I didn't know, why would I know, How would I know!!?" He complained.

"I never said that the weapons were fake did I?" Minty replied back as she finished cleaning off the blood.

Terra wanted to say something but realized that she had a point in that statement, then he also realized another thing, "Wait! That means you have actually been trying to kill me!?"

"Yes," Minty replied, "I told you earlier before we started that if you don't take this seriously then you would die."

"I thought that was a figure of speech!!" Terra said as he got up and started pacing around.

Terra could not believe this, Minty was so proper and well-mannered when he first saw her but now she was trying to kill him!!? "You never really know a person," Terra cried as he was facing the corner of a wall.

"My instructor just got here and her first thought was to try and kill me."

Minty watched all of this and was left speechless by his strange actions, "Is this how teenage boys of nowadays act?" she asked herself.

"If it helps," Minty yelled from across the room because Terra had moved further back away from her, "I seldom joke."

"How lovely," Terra said with tears in his eyes. "I'll keep that in mind."

Minty saw that Terra was having a hard time adjusting to the fact that she was using real weapons in their sparring match, so she decided to remind him of why they were here in the first place.

"Terra," Minty said in a serious tone, "I know you are not a fool. Despite the fact that you act silly all the time I know that you are more capable than this. And yet in this entire fight, you still haven't hit me, why?"

Terra didn't look at Minty, but he responded, "Because I don't want to hurt another human."

Minty kissed her teeth, she disapproved of what he was saying despite knowing the reason behind it, "You are strong. You are so strong and yet you act weak just because of 1 bad encounter. If you don't show others that you are capable then people are going to spend the rest of their lives counting their days because they think you will die in that tournament."

"And when you die, everyone here will lose their homes, Terra!!"

"So get up, and fight. Show them your strength and lessen their worries, I want you to start by showing me that you deserve to have the title you are carrying." As Minty said these words, she picked up another weapon from the wall.

Terra let go of his hand from the wall and stood up straight, "I know what you are saying Minty, I get it, OK!? I fully realized what it is that you are asking me to do, I was just scared that I would go too far again."

"But if you really think that I am unqualified, then let me remind you that in this entire encounter of ours, You have been serious and I have been not. And you still couldn't take advantage of that."

As Terra turned around he saw what weapon Minty had chosen next and it made him laugh a little. "It suits you well, that halberd you are holding."

Minty spun the halberd around herself and said, "If you are ready to start fighting for once, then we can begin."

Charging in first, Terra was determined to prove her wrong, he dashed toward her to close the distance, he knew that a weapon that gave a huge reach like this one would be problematic if dealing with a close-ranged fighter.

Minty swung the blade down on him, 'Another downswing? This is the third time she has done this,' Terra thought, but as his eyes were focused on her hands, he saw that she didn't fully commit to the swing, it felt half-hearted.

As he turned to the side to dodge the blade, she stopped her blade mid-swing and turned it around to go for a horizontal swing across his body, if Terra hadn't noticed this then he would have had a blade in his stomach.

He ducked down immediately and pushed himself forward by using the tip of his feet to propel himself.

Minty saw this and spun the halberd around herself to create some space between them, he could not approach her for as long as she spun it.

After the optimal distance was created, Minty thrust the halberd forward with great speed, Terra spun himself around to dodge the attack and got behind her as quickly as he could, he saw her backside was unguarded and rushed in to land an attack on her.

Minty didn't turn around, instead, she pulled back her halberd and thrust the other end of it, towards her backside where Terra was approaching, Terra almost got hit in his chest but he caught onto it just in time and grabbed its handle.

Despite grabbing onto it, he was pushed back 2 feet and this was a nuisance to him, she wouldn't let him get close so easily.

Minty pulled back her weapon again with much strength causing Terra to stumble and fall to his knees, but he didn't relax for a second as he rolled away from that spot right before the halberd could strike him down again with another swing

Moving to her side, Terra rushed forward once more, he was almost close enough that she wouldn't be able to swing properly, Minty seeing this swung her weapon in a diagonal slash, hoping to deter his advice and make him back off of her.

Instead, he fearlessly ducked underneath it as he had his eyes locked on her. Minty had used a little too much force in her haste and the blade was now lodged into the floor.

Seeing this as the perfect opportunity, Terra moved in to hit the now-defenseless Minty. She could only stand and stare at what was to come.

Suddenly she placed her hand on her shirt in between her chest. 'Wait, what!? Is she going to flash me? It looks like it, but she wouldn't do that, No way!!"

Just then, taking her hand out of her shirt, Minty pulled out a pistol and shot Terra in his stomach three times.

Terra fell hard immediately from the pain and was left there crying on the floor. "That was a dirty move, you can't do that to a guy, it's false hope. Besides, you said you wouldn't use firearms, how did you even fit a gun in there!?"

"How naive can you be!?" Minty said as she stared at Terra lying down there, "Are you really going to listen to every word that your enemy will say to you when the two of you are fighting? Of course, I would use some firearms."

"Now heal up, I didn't hit any vitals so you should be fine," she said as she walked over him and exited the room.

Shutting the door behind her Minty fell to her knees, and was panting rapidly outside the door, sweat was now falling from the top of her head onto her clothes.

*Huff, huff* "I don't believe it. That boy has never been trained in his life. Even everyone else here apart from Dawn has been trained by somebody, but Terra never once even trained himself."

"And yet he nearly got me. If I hadn't pulled out my gun, I surely would have lost. I wasn't even planning on using it at all."

"Terra Vian, you might just be what we need."
