A Starry Night

"I think that one is Ganymede," Vito pointed out at the large imagery of a moon of Jupiter.

"What, you are insane? That is obviously Callisto," Edith said, "Just look at all the craters covering the surface and look at its size. It looks just as big as mercury. It has to be Callisto."

The moon that was shown was now displaying a name tag near it and it read out, "Callisto."

"Ha! I knew I was right," Edith cheered as she flexed her arms. This was the 8th one she got correct in a row.

"I don't believe it's fair that you are able to guess all of these moons of Jupiter. I mean who even has the time to memorize this?" Vito complained.

"I don't wanna hear it from the guy who guessed Phobos and Deimos in an instant. Besides this moon guessing game was your idea," Edith reminded him as she placed another score on the blackboard positioned right next to her."

Vito whined quietly, "Well that was before I knew that I would be messing with a Jupiter Fanatic, it's not even fair, I guess like 2 moons and you want to guess 100?"

"95," Edith corrected, "It's 95 moons. Get it right next time."

"Whatever," the next one is coming up, I think it's-"

"Ganymede," Edith spook without even giving Vito a chance to take a guess and she was correct.

"That's not fair, you didn't even look at it. How did you know?" Vito asked baffled.

"The lighting," Edith said with a smile as she placed another point on the board.

'The lighting? She's acting like she's been to these moons herself! Even I don't think I am this obsessed with Mars the way that she is obsessed with Jupiter. She didn't even look at the screen."

"I thought you had never been to a planetarium before?" Vito asked.

"I haven't, but I know my moons," Edith said as she placed another point on her side.

"We haven't even guessed yet!!" Vito complained.

"Well, I am going to get it right, so what's the point in waiting for the obvious?" Edith chuckled.

Vito didn't want to admit it but she was most likely right, he didn't know much about other planets and only decided to play the moon guessing game for fun, not to get dominated. If he knew she was this good, he wouldn't have suggested this game.

"Well, this is boring, this is hardly even a challenge for you so I think we should stop," Vito suggested.

"Do I hear a surrender?" Edith asked as she flipped the marker she was holding in her fingertips.

"What you are hearing is a person who has figured that this would be too easy for you so we should discuss something else," he argued.

"Well sure I have no problem with that, but since I did win you know what I get to do right?" Edith smiled mischievously.

"F-fine." Vito let out.

"Great!" Edith said as she went to work drawing on Vito's face with her marker. It was a condition that the loser would have to allow the winner to draw on their face. Edith took her time carefully crafting her drawing and when she was satisfied she stopped and admired her work.

"That looks cute on you, maybe I should pursue arts one day," she said.

Vito pulled out his phone but Edith stopped him, "Ah! No electronics in the planetarium. Follow the rules."

"Okay then, what did you draw?" Vito asked.

"You have to find out later. Now weren't you going to change the subject? This is your opportunity," She teased.

*sigh* "You are enjoying yourself an awful lot, aren't you? I guess you deserve it since you won. As for the subject, mhm... Edith, tell me about yourself. I don't really know much about your life before we were all chosen."

Edith's playful smile had died down slightly when she heard this, she also wasn't as enthusiastic as she was before but she didn't want to show it.

"There's nothing special about me, I just work as a part-time engineer, helping my dad fix cars. Apart from that I have only lived a normal boring life."

"I see. By the way, is your father someone famous, or like a really well-known engineer? I feel like I have seen him somewhere," Vito asked.

"You've seen my Dad!?" Edith asked terrified.

"Y-yeah, there was a picture of him and you, lying around in your room."

"You looked through my room!?" Edith yelled again.

"I had to carry you there Edith!" Vito said as he backed away from her with his hands up, "And it was just lying there right next to your pillow. I couldn't unsee it even if I wanted to."

Edith bit her lower lip, 'Of course I just happened to have that picture lying around for him to see. Careless, careless, careless.'

"Oh, that's it?" she let out in relief, "No he isn't someone famous, he just has one of those faces. You know the type that everyone says resembles their cousin or something."

"Besides, why are we talking about the boring lifestyle of an engineer? what I want to know is your story Vito, how your father is part of the mafia."

"Oh right, that," Vito said awkwardly. He was starting to regret the fact that he told her that.

"What I really want to know," Edith went off again, "Is which one is it?" Edith already had her suspicions on which one it was but she wanted to hear him say it. She wanted confirmation.

"I don't know, it's not something I am proud to talk about," Vito said.

"Come on Vito, you already told me a little bit about it, won't you share the rest with me?" Edith asked trying her best to display puppy eyes.

"Mhm, well, I can under two conditions," He said. Edith had raised her eyes up in joy hearing this, "The first is that you forget about the dinner I am supposed to get you."

*Tsk* "I don't wanna," Edith sighed as she faced the other way, crossing her arms.

"Oh really? It is literally the first condition and it's not like we don't get to eat good food already here." Vito argued. After seeing what happened with John, Vito was not going to let his wallet suffer any consequences.

"Fine!" Edith reluctantly said, "And what's the other?"

Vito was now more collected than before as he placed a finger in between the two of them, he wanted her to keep this information secretively, "The second is that you shouldn't see me differently after I tell you this."

Edith nodded as she braced herself for the news, Vito was hesitant at first but he told her anyway, "I am from the Magaddino family."

Edith's eyes widened when she heard this, she almost didn't want it to be true, out of all the families it was this one, "Your family, started the gang war 1 year ago? The biggest one ever in California!?"

"Shh, not so loud," Vito said as he covered her mouth.

Edith moved his hand from her mouth quickly as she whispered back, "You are from THAT family?"

"I know. Shocking isn't it? Well, anything?" he asked.

Edith was quiet, she had a lot to process right now, she knew what intermingling with someone with a background like that would mean to her if her father was to ever find out about it. That she had dealings with the Mafia and not just any mafia, the Magaddino family.

But after spending time with Vito, she realized that he wasn't as bad as she would expect someone like him to be. He was in fact terrible according to mafia standards.

"I- I don't think you are a bad person Vito. Sure you have a bad history, like really bad history, like I can't even be seen in public with your history." Vito was getting heartburn at how much she emphasized this point.

"But- You aren't as bad as I thought you would be. You are a somewhat decent guy. Well, except for the time you tried to kill Terra."

Vito was feeling conflicted now, he wasn't being criticized the way he thought he would be, but he wasn't being complimented either, in fact, the whole thing was kind of strange to him. From the first time he had told her that he had some type of relation to the mafia, she didn't overreact, it was the opposite in fact, she underreacted.

And even now despite knowing which group he is associated with, she seems to be taking it rather well. 'What exactly is her background?' he wondered.

"Ed-" he wanted to ask her again but he stopped himself as he remembered that she avoided the question the first time. 'She would surely avoid it the second time.'

*BOOM!*

The projection of the planets above their heads had changed into the scenery of a star exploding after going supernova. This star had exploded in such a way that tons of smaller comets were being released across the Milky Way.

'How did this happen? I didn't change the settings, did it automatically switch after displaying all the moons available?' Vito wondered as he had been startled back into his chair.

Compared with the explosions they were witnessing when Alex was organizing it, these ones were lacking in presentation, but that didn't mean that they were any less beautiful to behold.

As the comets flew across the screen, one collided with another and it in turn collided with another causing the burning balls of fire to split up and spread across one another in what looked to be a meteor shower.

Shower after shower the dark room they were in was now being lit in brightly red and orange light as they zoomed across their heads at super speeds.

Watching this beautiful sight, Vito felt his hand clench tightly, he took a look at it and Edith was holding onto it just like she had done the first time they were watching such a show being displayed.

But this one didn't push them back or have a type of force to it, it was just a normal meteor shower being projected so it didn't make sense for her to accidentally hold his hand.

"Ed-" *Shhh* "She interrupted him as she looked to the lights, "Don't interrupt, just let it happen."

The two of them were now stuck holding hands together with each one refusing to make eye contact with the other but instead looking towards the stars. This continued on for quite a long time until finally, they both tried to say something at the exact same time.

"You go first," Vito said.

Edith was biting her tongue and debating whether it was right or not to say this, whether to reveal to Vito what he didn't know about her, the reason why she was so calm with all of this happening.

"Vito, I, I-, I-"

*Crunch, Crunch, Crunch,* *Slurpppp*

Turning their heads around, both Edith and Vito were surprised to see that they were not alone in the planetarium at all.

Munching on some popcorn and drinking soda, Cyrus was watching the entire scene that was being displayed.

"Wow, you guys had thirty whole minutes to do whatever you wanted and the most you could manage was Hand-Holding? I am disappointed. Anyways, want some popcorn, Edith?"

Edith's face went deep red, she could not believe what was happening, this had to be a nightmare, the scene, it was a perfect scene from a story tale and though she was hesitant with what she wanted to say, she was still going to say it, but Cyrus happened to ruin it all.

Covering her face, Edith ran out of the planetarium and retreated to her room, where she wished to recover from this humiliation. Leaving behind Vito to himself.

Vito was devasted as well, 'just why did Cyrus have to come in here of all places!? And why now!? Could John not keep him still for 1 hour? *ARGGH*' He threw his arms over his head and dropped down in despair.

"If it makes you feel any better," Cyrus said, "There is some extra popcorn in the Kitchen. Oh and don't worry, I didn't hear anything that I didn't already know."

*Slurp.*
