Cyrus Discovery.

Walking down the path, Cyrus was following the stream where he assumed Vito had jumped into. His footprints had stopped just before the water and he also saw another set of footprints dive into it as well.

"I guess Dawn was collateral in the incident. Hope he didn't get swept away too far, I could still use him in the future," Cyrus laughed remembering the bet he made with Edith.

It wasn't long until he saw a familiar figure drenched in water lying down beneath a tree.

"So this is where the stream swept you up? I was half afraid that there was a waterfall at the end of it and that you would be swallowed whole," Cyrus said as he approached Dawn.

Dawn looked over his shoulder and saw Cyrus approaching him. 'Great, could Minty not have come here herself? What is she doing that could be so important that my life wouldn't be a priority? I can't believe I am saying this but I miss John. At the very least he cared.'

"I don't believe you came to get me because you missed me. Am I your excuse for getting out of work?" Dawn asked.

"And Vito. I was tasked with finding you two." Cyrus replied.

"And what of Minty? Is she still reading her book?"

Cyrus then proceeded to take off his glasses as he reenacted the way she spoke these words to him, "You are representatives, you will be fine."

"To hell with being a representative!" Dawn yelled as he threw a rock across the stream. It had sunk down instantly without bouncing. "That woman thinks we are immortal, invincible even. She doesn't even consider the fact that we are just kids!"

Cyrus crouched down beside him as he too grabbed a rock and threw it across the stream, bouncing it several times over. "The world is ending, well might end very soon. She doesn't have the luxury to treat us like kids and even if she did she still wouldn't."

"She's the type of person who believes that people should learn by handling their own problems and I can respect that ideology of hers. Besides, she's not completely wrong."

Cyrus then picked up another flat round rock and made sure it was smoother than the last one, "We are representatives and the troubles we are going through right now are trivial. Picture Terra, the boy tasked with having to fight what might be a legion of different representatives in a tournament that would decide our planet's fate."

"I know that ok!" Dawn said as he interrupted Cyrus's lecture and threw a rock of his own, this time it bounced once and then sank, "I already know that all of this is to teach us lessons about life or something since we were all chosen with him, so this might be a simulation of what troubles Terra would go through if he gets there."

"But why do we have to do them? We are not going! In fact, we aren't even chosen anymore, we would probably lose the right to call ourselves representatives once he lives. I doubt that there can be more than one representative."

"So why are we going through the same troubles that he is going through? Why give us that type of treatment when we don't even matter in the long run?"

Cyrus remembered that Dawn didn't choose to be here, he was forced as punishment for trying to kill Terra, "I think I see the problem," Cyrus said as he stood up a bit to grab two sets of stones for both of them to throw. "You think you don't matter in the long run, you think that you are unimportant."

"Well then let me remind you that before Terra was chosen we all were, meaning we all have what it takes to become a representative. And though it may be true that we are not the ones going to space, that doesn't undermine our value."

"Our value is the fact that we are still alive and have the potential to make a change in this world that we still have. Just because we will stay on earth doesn't mean that we can't use our influence to make the world a better place in the end. We are the future."

"And lastly, humans are very social creatures, I think because you have been alone for so long that you have forgotten what it means to have someone you can relate to because they were facing the same crisis that you were."

"We are all here to help each other, in one way or another." Cyrus had clenched his hand behind his back when he said these words, it was his way of relieving the stress he had since he didn't truly believe the words he was saying.

Not that they weren't important but that they were all here to help one another, he didn't believe those words because he had once considered Ariel's suggestion of killing Terra.

"You are a sweet talker, did you look at my files or something? because there is no way you are that good at reading people to the point where you can relate to their past," Dawn said as he threw the rock Cyrus gave him letting it bounce more times than all the one's before it.

"I am more of a detective than I look," Cyrus replied fixing his glasses.

"Alright you've made your point, now go and look for Vito, before he starts making trouble for us elsewhere," Dawn said.

"Is he not with you?" Cyrus asked.

"He swam further down the stream, those bees were persistent. I only got out because I was able to hide away with how far ahead I was from him."

"What of you?" Cyrus asked looking down at Dawn.

"I will remain here a while, to rest. I know the way back so you don't have to worry about me."

Hearing this Cyrus proceeded to sit down next to Dawn and wait for him to get up.

"What are you doing?" Dawn asked.

"I will not leave you here stranded, I will wait."

"I said I can get back," Dawn argued.

"I just said that we are here to help one another and you want me to leave? That's not helping you. So until you decide to move from this spot I will stay right here and wait. Besides, Vito can't get into that much trouble so soon."

Dawn who was now irritated by his lack of solitude stood up and yelled, "Fine, I am leaving! Now go get Vito before we end up receiving more work because his careless *** decided to get lost."

Without waiting for Cyrus to say anything, Dawn marched out the way that Cyrus came in from and he was on his way back to the group.

Seeing this Cyrus smiled and continued down the river.

It had been a while now since Cyrus had followed Vito's footsteps out of the river and into the forest near it. The only bright part about this situation was that the trees were getting more spread out as the area became more rocky.

The trail led on and on until something peculiar caught his eye. The footsteps he was following seemed to intermingle with another set of footsteps. There were a total of 4 footsteps to follow now.

As he inspected the footsteps he found that they separated at a crossroads point in the forest, two of them led one way, and two of them led another way.

It seems as though Cyrus would have to decide which trail to follow. He could perfectly tell apart which footprint belonged to Vito and which didn't, the only problem was the fact that the footprint that led to the other path looked as though someone was dragging something with them. Something heavy from what it seemed.

"What would someone have to drag out all the way here? And Minty had said that this place was isolated, we were supposed to be the only ones here. So why aren't we?"

Curiosity got the better of him, as a detective or former one, he needed to find out what was taking place in the woods past this point. He placed his hand on his chin and asked himself what to do, whether to prioritize Vito or not.

What had worried him was the fact that the trail looked to be old if the group of people this trail belonged to got too far, he wasn't sure he would be able to find out what they were doing, his entire body was on alert and for a moment he felt a tingle on his shoulder.

He looked at it and after seeing it glow he *sighed* "Looks like you want me to go take a look at it as well. Or maybe you are just trying to calm down my overthinking. Either way, Vito is a representative, he should be fine."

Taking a page out of Minty's book, Cyrus decided to follow the second trail that led away from Vito, he needed to find out whether this incident he had been met with was something worth reporting to back to her, and if it was, then it would be something that even she would have to get involved with.

Running through the woods Cyrus said, "If my hunch is correct, there is a group of people doing something out here that they don't want anyone else finding out about. And I am going to find out what it is."

It had been a while since the white wolf had taken a hunt out by himself. And Cyrus was ready for it.
