In love with Ex!

Davis and Lucy got back to the office and thankfully, there weren't as many reporters as Lucy anticipated.

After gazing out of the windows, she turned her neck to look at Davis. "There aren't many people. Any reasons?"

"I asked security to keep them out. We don't want disturbance, right? But our employees...maybe they will give us some greetings so be prepared for that." As far as the internal management was concerned, he knew it was hard to control.

But probably Lucy should be given some exposure to such life initially.

With such thought in the back of Davis's head, he averted his mind back to look outside until their car came to a stop in front of the building.

The guards opened the door for them and Davis and Lucy decided to go inside together after much consideration.

There was some hesitation left in Lucy's heart but she gathered courage to face everyone.

As predicted by her, she was greeted by the sight of all the employees who were holding the bouquets for her.

She brought a genuine smile to her lips and accepted everyone's greetings, blessings, and wishes. Meanwhile, besides Lucy, Davis stayed silent and didn't even acknowledge a single message.

When everyone witnessed his grumpy mood, some were quick to guess. "Is Mr. Walker really into this marriage? Did Ms. Warner play any trick on him?"

"It is possible. Otherwise, how can any girl like her who has worked only for one year suddenly become our boss's wife?" The others passed comments and despite hearing them, Lucy didn't say much.

However, she wasn't someone who will bear all the gossip easily. Lucy ended up nudging Davis with her elbow and when he looked at her, she gave a cute smile. "You should smile, Davis."

"Is it needed?" he asked and Lucy instantly blurted. "Indeed it is. Do you want others to suspect?" Only a few words and they worked on Davis.

Davis was no more giving his cold look and started nodding his head to all those who came to him. When the seniors of their companies came to them, Davis took the initiative to talk and accepted their congratulations.

Witnessing such a scene, the rumors died. Slowly and steadily, no one's eyes missed how Lucy convinced Davis, and knowing their boss's temperament, they were still taken aback that a man like him was listening to his wife's words.

If he was willing to accept Lucy's words and convert them into action, there was definitely something between them!

The first half of the day passed with greetings and meetings with others, especially those who are there to congratulate the boss and the new wife. However, it wasn't until lunch when everyone went back to their desk and so did Lucy.

While some were still wondering about Lucy's work-life routine, Lucy ignored many gazes and concentrated on her work and projects to be determined.

Her workload wasn't disturbed and this was one of the demands she had put forward in this marriage.

The time gradually passed and it was already around four in the evening when Lucy felt a knock on her table. She slowly lifted her eyes and they narrowed on seeing a familiar face.

"Mr. Denis.."

"Sister-in-law!"

He greeted them with a wide grin and she felt his mischievous behind it. Denis tried to come closer and give a kiss on her cheek, but Lucy moved her head and Denis's lips brushed against the soft texture of her hair.

"C'mon, Sister-in-law, you can't ignore me! I messaged you but you didn't even reply to my text! This brother-in-law of yours is very sad." Denis intentionally put on sadist expressions but Lucy ignored them.

"If you're here to see Davis, he is in his cabin. You can go and look for him right now because, after thirty minutes, he has a meeting to attend." Lucy kept her professional front and told him.

Hearing her words, Denis's grin started to displace slowly. It was replaced with a small smile when he asked her, "Who said I'm here only to see Davis but not you?"

"Are you? But I don't think we have anything to talk about." Lucy confronted but Denis denied her words.

"That isn't true. You are new to our family so I thought I should get some time to get to know you."

"No need to take so much effort to get to know me. I don't think we will have much interaction in the future with the fact that your girl already doesn't like me."

Lucy was blunt this time, and from the start, this was the first time she looked back into Denis's eyes while keeping a brave front.

Moreover, Denis chuckled at her words, "Maybe she doesn't but she is she and I'm me. Sierra doesn't like you because she and Davis have a past and I think you already know this, right?"

Lucy didn't reply but gave him a small smile. Her non-expressed face gave him a vague idea that she did know about everything about the past.

"If I'm not wrong, my brother must have told you how much he loved Sierra. But in the end, she came to me."

"I think that isn't something that needs to be told to me. The entire world witnessed how Sierra ran into your arms just after a few weeks of publicly announcing her relationship with your brother." Lucy cut short the polite conversation.

Keeping her arms again, Lucy smiled provocatively, "Moreover, Sierra is your girl now. She is past for Davis about whom he doesn't need to talk about. But for you... she is present."

"How does it feel, Denis, to know that your girl is actually jealous over her ex-flames marriage?" Lucy added and questioned back with a strict yet playful expression.

She wanted to discourage this man and her words resulted in Denis's face turning frosty.

It gave Lucy a lot of joy, especially after knowing that last night's actions were done either by him or his girl.

Denis didn't say anything for the next few minutes but only stared at the lady in front of him. For some unknown reason, she was fierce but he liked it.

Unlike Serra, she has a tongue to rebel with...rebellious nature.

A small smirk drew on his lips when he leaned more on her desk and told in a mocking tone.

"While my girl was only getting jealous over her ex-lover's marriage, your husband is actually still in love with his ex-girlfriend. How does it feel to know your husband doesn't love you, my dear Lucy?"
