Eleven

I woke up bright and early on a Sunday, which was normal. My mom and I attend church. I climb out of bed and move towards the closest. Looking around, I pick out my favorite Sunday dress. It is red with black flowers. I grab a pair of red sandals and quickly get dressed.

Sitting down at my vanity, I do my hair in a ponytail and wear light-colored lipstick. Adam attends our church, so I will have the pleasure of seeing him.

Grabbing my handbag, I leave my room and walk downstairs. My mom has already dressed and was in the kitchen eating Oatmeal, which was a treat besides the fruit.

I sit next to her. "Thank you", I say, noticing she had a bowel prepared for me.

"You're welcome," she says with a grin. She wants details from last night. Oh boy.

She just watches me. She will overreact if she finds out we kissed.

"So?" She asks.

"So what?"

She gives me her sarcastic face.

"We had dinner."

"And?" She asks.

"And what?" I take a bite of my oatmeal.

" Another date soon? Did you make out? Kiss?" She asks.

"Mom." I roll my eyes.

"Nothing happened?" She looks disappointed.

"He may have kissed me."

She grins. "Was it like a fairy tale?" she asks.

I laugh. "It was Adam, not prince charming."

"He is better than Prince Charming," she says.

I pick up my bowel and get up from my chair, I walk towards the stink.

"He is a nice guy." I smile.

"No wedding bells yet?" She asks.

"No."

"Good, because I need your help at the dance academy for a long time," she laughs.

Soon, I find myself sitting in the pew at church. We sit next to Adam and his mom today. He has his arm around me. I watch as people walk in. Everyone smiles, I like that.

At church, my mom looks so friendly. If only she was like that everywhere.

Adam grabs my hand in his. I look at his face and smile.

"I had fun last night." He says.

"Me too."

What is he doing here? I never saw him at church. I watch as Corey and Jen walk in. They sit on the opposite side of the church, but are still in view.

Jen waves at me. I pull my hand from Adam and wave back.

Walking out of the church, I hear my stomach growling. The service feels longer this time. My eyes watch Corey more than they should have.

Once outside, I see his truck parked outside. After the service, he disappeared.

Standing in front of the church. I listen as my mom chats.

"Want to go home for lunch?" Adam asks.

I open my mouth to answer, then I see Corey and Jen walk out. He is carrying boxes. I can make out they have clothes in them. Oh good. He must have got clothes for Jen from the clothing giveaway. It makes my heart happy.

"Sadie Lunch?" Adam asks again.

"Sadie," calls Jen. I smile. I can't help it.

" I'll be back in a minute."

I hear the ladies stop talking, but I couldn't help it. I want to talk to Corey and Jen so badly. I move towards them.

Jen comes rushing up to hug me. I hug her tightly.

"Wow, Jen, you look so pretty in that dress." She wore a beautiful pink dress.

She spins around. "I know,'' she says. Corey and I both laugh.

"You look beautiful," Corey smiles.

I feel my cheeks turn red.

" Thanks."

"Come with us home for lunch?" He asks.

Mom would flip and Adam. His family.

"I can't. My mom will see."

He laughs. "Just get in the car."

"I don't want you in trouble either."

"I was thinking about that, I was foolish to end our dance. If she was to end my community service, then so be it, I will go somewhere else," he tells me.

"Please Sadie,'' says Jen with a sweet smile.

"How about I meet you at your house?"

"Fine," says Corey.

"I will see you soon."

I turn to walk away. Adam looks upset and my mom is disgusted. I knew that was going to happen.

"What was that about?" My mom asks when I return.

"Nothing, I was just talking."

Adam rolls his eyes and mouths "lair."

"How do you know his sister? Has she been to the dance academy?" She has her hand on her hip.

I shake my head. "I ran into them at the store," I lie.

"Oh," she replies.

"We will have lunch another day," I tell Adam as my mom and I walk toward the car.
