Chapter 18 : Lincoln (Past)

He missed yet again, the red energy blast going further away from the target every time he tried. This was nothing like shooting guns or blasters, once you fire it'll hit your mark or wherever the gun was pointed to. His energy blasts, however, don't hit depending on where he had his arms directed to. At the moment he couldn't find out what it was. He started to get frustrated while the scientists just took records and videos of what was being displayed in front of them.

It's been three days since he was put in this place. He was in a thirty-story building, and they were on the 27th floor. This whole floor was to the scientists. It had two rooms, one was their laboratory and the other was the room he was in. It was separated by a thick bulletproof glass wall, and that was how the scientists would examine Lincoln as he trains.

The room was like a bedroom. There was a bed in the corner and the door to a small bathroom next to it. And the other half of the room was where Lincoln trained, it had few targets and props, for Lincoln to use to train. But in reality, they just wanted to see what he could do, and maybe even create more people like him.

He could easily escape if it weren't for the collar attached to his neck. The collar was electrified but this time it held his life as he wouldn't have enough time to convert the electrical energy into energy he can manipulate before he dies from the shock. The collar also had a tracker in it which would shock him continuously every time he's out of the place he's supposed to be in and the intensity of the shock will increase the further he is away from that specific place.

The place he now was supposed to be in is his room, but that can change when Lincoln has to move to another area for the scientists to conduct different level experiments in. Up till now, it had only been this room, but Lincoln had a feeling they would start changing locations from time to time.

Lincoln sighed. He tried looking on the bright side, the training he will be doing for the scientists would make him stronger which will allow his escape to be less difficult. He would have to kill them later on as they may know most of his weaknesses.

The thought disappointed him. When did killing become such a minor thing to Lincoln?

He sighed again and focused on the target. Suddenly his vision changed out of his will, and everything but the target was dim. Lincoln's eyes went wide at this, as he tested his sudden theory by sending a blast towards the target. Surprisingly enough it hit its mark perfectly, but it didn't work as planned as it destroyed the target completely and damaged the wall behind it.

Lincoln knelt, feeling exhausted after firing it. But he was satisfied after finally learning how to aim his blasts perfectly. However, he didn't know why his vision had suddenly changed without him doing it manually. He sighed again and got back up. He switched his vision back so everything was clear again and looked around. Nothing out of the ordinary.

He then switched back to his energy vision, the name which he planned to improve in the future. He looked at another target and focused on it. It felt a bit like focusing on a person because his energy vision lets him look at the skeletal system of his target, something he still hadn't found the usefulness of.

He should have an intention, however. If he focuses intending to see the skeleton of a person, he could see it. If Lincoln focuses on the person to aim at him everything but that person would go dim, same for any target he wants to get.

He blasted the target and it hit its mark yet again, but this time his energy blast just grazed it. Lincoln then realized that he used up a lot of energy when he was too focused on the target, that when he barely focused on the second one, the energy used was very little.

At that moment he realized he was getting a better hang of his ability. Lincoln grinned, in another month or so I would be able to escape. All I have to do until then is to train all I could and then I could escape and get back home. Then I'll be able to join the military and protect everyone.

SIX WEEKS LATER

He blocked an incoming strike with his energy blade, a blade that he created which fuses into his arm and can both be used to stun or kill the enemy depending on how much kinetic energy Lincoln puts into it.

The droid lifted its sword and spun for another strike. Lincoln flipped backwards to avoid the strike and fired three energy blasts at the droid while doing so. The deadly droid dodged two with inhuman speed, the last one, however, had managed to hit its sword, sending the weapon flying backwards, but not fully disarming the droid.

Two rocket cannons appeared on each side of the droid and fired mini yet lethal missiles at Lincoln. In midair, he would be completely vulnerable to this attack if he hadn't created a platform of energy before kicking it and straying from the missiles' courses. The rockets flew across the field, hit the grass and exploded, leaving large craters in the ground.

Lincoln landed safely and sighed, he spent so much energy closing in on the droid only for it to expand its distance once again with its rockets.

Machine-poisoned bullets shot towards Lincoln but he disappeared before they could even hit him, what was left were merely traces of his crimson red energy. He then reappeared behind the droid, his fists charging with energy as he punched the back of it with full force, sending it flying upwards and destroying it completely.

Lincoln then closed his eyes and focused on himself. He was met with a third-person view of his skeletal system, just like how he had done with the scientists back when he first got his power. However, his skeletal system was different, instead of just one energy signature roaming his body, Lincoln had four.

Green was the common energy between him and a normal human being, he defined this energy signature as Nature Energy. He had other different colours, however. There was blue, which he called Kinetic Energy, which is the energy he uses for his offence and defence such as his energy blades, forefields and platforms. There was red, which he called Plasma energy, which he had only still used for warping around and healing. And then there was purple, which he had never used and hence didn't know anything about.

However, even with the different coloured energy signatures, Lincoln was able to see with his energy vision, in his normal vision and to other human eyes, he only sees crimson red energy, no matter what type he uses. Whether it's kinetic or plasma, in other peoples' eyes it'll always be his usual red energy, and he's only able to know what type of energy he uses if he switches to his energy vision.

He saw that he had used a lot of his kinetic energy in his battle, but he could easily replenish it.

He walked to a tree and started punching it with full force, pain shot from his knuckles and he grunted as he kept punching. This action released a good amount of kinetic energy in one place, which was the tree, and this energy was immediately sucked up by Lincoln's body, he suddenly felt less tired by doing so.

Lincoln shook his hands a little while the healing process took place, and walked around the field wondering what he should do next.

His nature energy had usually been used up automatically, in processes such as movement and breathing, just like a normal human being. He wondered what he's able to do if he decides to transfer that nature energy, to use it on something else. What can he do?

He moved to the undamaged part of the field and knelt. He then touched the grass and closed his eyes, focusing on the green energy in his skeletal system. He then saw how much of this green energy also surrounded him, which made sense as nature energy was everywhere.

He focused on transferring that energy to the grass and sent slow waves to it. He opened his eyes and indeed it was just his signature crimson red energy being sucked up by the grass. He was ready to have no results, however, that was not the case.

After a brief moment, Lincoln could see a small yet gradually growing planet sprouting out from the grass Lincoln had transferred energy into. It grew at rapid speeds and in no time, Lincoln was looking at a white daisy.

He then reversed the process, sucking up the energy from this flower, and it slowly died, replenishing Lincoln's energy storage.

So, another word for nature can be Life Energy, but was it all there's to it?

Lincoln got up, he wanted to make sure giving and taking life energy from living beings was all he could do with nature energy. Could he also create life?

He stood straight and closed his eyes, once again coming face to face with his skeletal system. He then focused on the green energy at his core and imagined it coming out of him, and it did just that. In his energy vision, the green energy floated next to him, but when he opened his eyes to take a look, there was nothing.

Maybe the energy becomes invisible again once it leaves my control.

He closed his eyes again and saw the nature energy wasn't floating near him anymore. This is confusing. He thought to himself, and once again moved the green energy outside of him, and opened his eyes. In that split second as he did so, the red energy outside of him went completely invisible. Once I switch my vision to my normal one, I release control of the energy, and so it goes back to being normal nature energy. He concluded.

Keeping this in mind, Lincoln once again closed his eyes and moved the nature energy outside of him, however this time he didn't open his eyes and just held the energy there. Do something. He thought to it, and like expected the energy didn't do anything. He figured he'll do better, Create something. He commanded, nothing. Create someone. He commanded again, and once again he got nothing.

And that's when the thought hit him, he was commanding life energy, he doesn't still know what are the extents of his control over it, and he doesn't even know what kind of life form he can create if he's even able to do so. And so, he'll do it directly, Create life. He commanded; this time not expecting results at all.

But it was this time when something happened.

Lincoln's third-person view suddenly expanded, and in place of the floating green energy that had been next to him was another skeletal system. This one had three energy signatures, Nature, Kinetic and Plasma. He opened his eyes and couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"Naomi?"
