Chapter 17: Scouting
The next day, Uno awoke and began organizing the village alongside Randy Cooper and Ian Stewart. "I appreciate your efforts from yesterday; we acquired four magnificent bows as spoils yesterday, and I am giving you each bow to improve your combat ability."
Randy Cooper and Ian Stewart gratefully took the award and expressed their gratitude.
Uno then announced the meeting's agenda, "Our Invictus Village currently lacks a management system, and we are going to establish it after we've gathered all of the specifics of our current village residents. Randy, pick four individuals from the original 10 villagers and assist you to conduct a census of all villagers' occupations. Ian, be on standby till we receive the census from Randy, and then we are going to build a scouting group to explore our region to locate food and nearby resources."

Randy Cooper took over thirty minutes to collect all of the information. "Our entire population is 98, which includes me and Ian Stewart, with 46 lumbermen, 22 farmers, 8 quarrymen, 2 masons, 3 chefs, and 15 children who do not have any occupation," he reported.
"Great work!" Uno exclaimed and inquired. "Hm... How about combat power?"
Randy Cooper responded, "Unfortunately, they are all (1)."
"Hm... okay, Randy, I assigned you to be an administrative staff and build these blueprints as soon as possible; you can build the quarry in the north, the lumberyard in the east, and farmlands in the west and south; once completed, you can build the barracks, wooden fence, and wooden house."
Randy Cooper bowed and said, "Yes! Village Chief Uno!"
Uno then instructed Ian Stewart, "Ian, coordinate with Randy and put up a notice for scout recruitment. Our village needs 5 new scouts, and by tomorrow, we are going to explore our region for any dangers and resources. Unfortunately, we do not have a way to officially bestowed them an occupation similar to you."
Ian Stewart bowed and said, "Yes! Village Chief Uno!"
Uno happily nods and said, "All right, I'm going to inspect our region for a while, so this meeting is now adjourned."
Randy Cooper and Ian Stewart were hesitant to depart, saying, "Village Chief Uno, it will be dangerous. Please wait for the scout to be formed to ensure your safety."
"You do not need to worry," Uno replied, taken aback and touched, "I will stay safe and ensure to retreat if I sense a threat."
Randy Cooper and Ian Stewart were still concerned but nodded and stated that they would complete their duty with brilliance.

While Uno is getting ready to explore the region. He saw how depressed the villagers appeared. Uno then decided to look after Randy Cooper and ordered to gather all of the villagers before making the arrangements.
After ten minutes, all of the villagers gathered in the Invictus Village's center area. Randy Cooper built numerous temporary makeshift houses on the village's south side yesterday that can accommodate 100 people. As a result, it's somewhat accessible to reach out to everyone.
Uno turned to face the villagers and said,
"My fellow villagers,
In the face of danger, your unity and cooperation shone brightly, and I am in awe of your strength. Your quick cooperation to hide in your houses during the recent bandit attack played a pivotal role in our safety and triumph. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the first 10 villagers who took the lead in building makeshift houses, creating a sanctuary that shielded us from harm. Your selflessness and resourcefulness are true inspirations. Together, we have proven that in the face of adversity, our community stands strong, united, and capable of overcoming any challenge. Stay resolute, for our collective spirit will guide us to a future filled with hope and prosperity. Thank you, brave villagers, for showing the power of cooperation and reminding us of the indomitable strength that resides within each of us."
Everyone in the crowd was caught off guard and felt valued. Randy Cooper and Ian Stewart were also moved by Uno's gesture.
"OK, everyone hahaha... Randy Cooper and Ian Stewart will have something to say," Uno remarked before bolting. The audience then turned to Randy Cooper and Ian Stewart, expecting them to say something. "Uh..." mumbled the two.

"Fuck me, the public order and satisfaction went up? Is it because of the speech?" Uno is taken aback. As he examines deeper, he discovers a new section called Village Buildings, and it sounds like established structures based on blueprints may bring additional benefits.
Uno then observes the surroundings while storing the Village Seal in his grey sack. Uno sees a deer and other animals in the distance but no villages or settlements. Uno really neglected to eat last night and before leaving because he was preoccupied with his thoughts. Then, his stomach reminded him. Uno decided to hunt the deer and try to cook it over an open fire.
The deer was scared when it saw Uno and began to flee, but Uno eventually caught up with the animal and beheaded the poor creature.

"What? You can gain EXP by killing normal animals?" Uno discovered this information by surprise. Uno afterward approached the deer carcass and placed it into his grey sack, which had an artificial space of 10 square meters within it once Uno equipped it.
Uno then picked some dried branches and began making wood dust to ignite the dust, which eventually turned into a campfire. Uno then brought out the carcass of the slain deer and discovered that his grey sack can function as a refrigerator or something because the carcass is still fresh. Uno sliced a piece of the deer's belly and once done he placed it back in the grey sack.
When the fire is large enough, Uno places the deer flesh in his Kampilan sword and begins roasting it. When it's done properly, the aroma spreads. Uno took a bite and said, "The feeling of taste, oh wow!" Uno was still hungry after consuming it, so he roasted about 4 more pieces of deer meat until he was satisfied.
Uno decided to keep the dried branches and part of the wood dust in case he wanted to consume deer meat in the future.

Uno traveled further west and noticed something in the distance. There is a camp of green-skinned individuals. Uno examined the odd individuals to learn more about them.

"Hm... Goblins, huh? Definitely the scout of this Green Eye Tribe." Uno figured it out immediately away after scrutinizing the specifics because tribes in video games or even fiction books are typically comprised of 200 to 400 goblins. Because there are presently 5 to 10 goblins stationed at this camp, it is a scout camp. Before clearing this camp, Uno must remain hidden and investigate the location of the main goblin tribe camp.
While Uno is waiting for something to happen, he promptly spams his [D: Urge] and [S: Heaven's Authority] to level it up as soon as possible. Uno had been waiting for 4 hours when he noticed movement in the goblin scout camp.
Uno is certain that there are eight green goblins in the goblin scout camp after observing it. Uno spotted two green goblins being sent northwest. Uno decided to follow the two green goblins to find out where they were going.

Uno was caught off guard by the discovery. "What the hell? Is this even a tribe?" he exclaimed. He followed the two goblins for 5 hours, passing by other camps identical to scout camps, but some that appear to be goblin settlements because the inhabitants are large. When the two goblins arrived in an enormous camp, Uno noticed the dense presence of green goblins. Some are tall and armed with a variety of weaponry.
Uno stayed for 20 minutes basically to gather more information, such as different types of goblins, or goblin units.
Uno identified four different kinds of green goblins. The first type of green goblins are the ones that he followed and aren't actually scouts, it's simply regular goblins that carry out scout work, the second type of green goblins are the Fighter Green Goblins who have a combat power of โช(2) which utilized different blades, the third type of green goblins are the Archer Green Goblins who have a combat power of โช(2) and primarily used bows, the last type of green goblins are the Heavy Green Goblins who have a combat power of โช(3) equipped with axes or clubs.

Uno returned to the place of the initial encounter with the green goblins after 3 hours.
It's already past noon, and Uno decided to eliminate this green goblin scout camp in order to learn more about these green goblins' actual combat abilities in preparation for tomorrow. Uno plans to bring the new recruits to gain experience but first, he wants to determine if it is realistic because it may result in casualties.
Uno receives a notification as he approaches the scout camp.

Uno came to a halt and exclaimed, "Shit! Merit Points is the reward?" before continuing on his way.
All of the green goblins are only at Combat Power โช(1), and there appears to be no archer. Uno was interested in the green goblins' skill [D: Frenzy] because if he could acquire it, it would boost his offensive prowess.
Uno already activated his skills and instantly entered the camp and slain one green goblin.

"Hm... okay," Uno decided not to kill the remaining 5 green goblins and instead tried to verify what he could do by dodging all of the attacks. The green goblins' attacks are actually child's play; there is no strategy or martial art that they appear to practice; the green goblins simply hack when it feels like it. Furthermore, Uno's reaction time is faster than that of the green goblins, but if Ian Stewart or Randy Cooper were in his situation, they could be dead already. It appears that gaining experience for the new recruits will be challenging.
Uno dodged until the green goblins became sluggish, then beheaded them with his Kampilan sword.

"That's no fun," murmured Uno as he searched the scout camp. There are some resources, such as lumber and stones, but they are minimal. After the battle, Uno pondered for ten minutes and mused, "Hm... I think it is possible."
Uno then left to return to Invictus Village, and on the way there, he killed six deers before arriving. It's already sunset, and the villagers are getting ready for dinner. Uno then comes upon Randy Cooper and Ian Stewart.
Randy Cooper and Ian Stewart welcomed Uno, saying, "Welcome back, Village Chief Uno."
"Village Chief," Ian Stewart remarked, "we've already selected the five scout recruits for tomorrow."
"All right, tomorrow we're going to discuss specifics and make sure everyone is well-rested," Uno responds.
"Yes, Village Chief," Randy Cooper and Ian Stewart nodded. Then Uno replied, "Here are six deer carcasses for everyone to eat tonight."
A bonfire was made at the center of the village, and Uno celebrates with the villagers to enjoy the night.

Uno is currently relaxing in his wooden manor after having fun and chatting with the villagers. He discovered that the people who live here are natives who have lived on this land their entire lives. Furthermore, occupations such as lumbermen can gain experience by cutting trees, and you can receive the job if you have done enough for the system to offer you an opportunity. Other methods of obtaining occupation involve using occupation tokens or completing missions. In addition, in order to awaken someone's innate skill, it must be awakened by a shrine or a specific edifice. That is why he has yet to come across anyone with an Innate Skill.
This simply indicates that these villagers did not participate in the Village Trial. Uno made a mental note about this and plans his day for tomorrow before going to bed.
