Chapter 150

'Is this my end? What should I do?'

That's what Ludger (Renneshia) thought in his mind, but he still tries to act calm on the outside. As the magic that showed his emotions had vanished after he depleted his magic power, his emotionless face had a long return.

While Ludger hate his emotionless face but right now, he feels he is extremely lucky to have such a face. Because he needs something to help him to act in front of the two members of the black robe group.

One is the Tower Master of the Magic Tower. And the other one is someone who looks like the Vice Tower Master of the Magic Tower, Keres.

"She...she wasn't Keres...I think..." Ludger said to remind Kismet about the black robe group members who just appeared in front of them.

"Why do you say something like that when you only speak to her no more than the fingers on one of my hands? Didn't she look exactly like her?" Kismet retorts Ludger's words as he seems to get calmer after seeing Ludger's face and hearing his words.

Ludger didn't know why. But he had a feeling that she was not Keres even though she really looked extremely similar to her. Because there's one thing that the person in front of him didn't have.

"Her eyes lacked the usual burning embers that she had in her eyes. While she appeared like a cold person, she always had that burning ambition in her eyes. I only realized it after watching her fight with Sister Elviira." Ludger explained.

"It is also possible that she hid her true colour with her special ability like the other black robe group members." Kismet gives his opinion.

"No. I still think she is not Keres. I think it was my first time meeting her." Ludger couldn't explain what he felt from the first time he saw the woman from the black robe group standing in front of them.

Kismet seemed to want to say something, but someone suddenly laughed.

"Kekeke..., I appreciate that you came to pick me back. But I still need to bring that little boy back to meet our Lord. Look at him! He was still calm even though he felt your power." The Tower Master laughed like a lunatic while looking in Ludger's direction with crazy looks.

Without showing any changes, the black robe woman, who has a similar appearance to Keres, turned her head to look in Ludger's direction. Her cold and void gaze makes Ludger feel freezing on his back.

'Such empty gaze. She feels as if she is not alive or something else. If what the Duke said is the truth, then she has a dangerous ability to hide that terrible power from other senses.' Ludger feels terrified and panics inside, but on the outside, he seems to be calm and composed.

"We only need to kill the Duke and take that boy. I almost regain my ability to move again. We need to do it quickly and get back to meet our Lord. Hmm...Damn!" As The Tower Master told the black robe woman about what they needed to do, he felt something coming from the direction of the entrance of the Arena.

Ludger and Kismet realized their reaction and looked for a chance to get out of their current predicament. As the presence gets closer to their direction, the sounds of people's footsteps become louder.

'It was dangerous to come here. Even if they come with a big group, the two of them are too dangerous. How many people will die if we fight with the two of them?' Ludger worried as the footsteps got closer in their direction.

Flash.

Suddenly, blinding light shines from the entrance, and arrows of light start to rain on the black robe pair.

"Haaa!"

A few people run to the black robe pair and attack them with their weapons. As they use the blinding light to hide their appearance, Ludger and Kismet can't see their faces.

"Got you!"

Someone shouted as he could feel that his attack hit something.

But..

"Huh?! Shit! Everyone, run!" A person who seems to be the leader of the people who attack with their weapons feels something and shouts.

Although they have good reflexes and quickly put some distance from the black robe pair, some of them still get injured from their retaliation. As their appearance gets clearer, Ludger and Kismet recognize the people who help them are the famous adventurers in this city.

"Ugh! Are they some kind of evil from the legend?" The injured adventurer couldn't believe what they just saw.

More than ten top adventurers in this city simultaneously attacked two suspicious persons but they couldn't even make a scratch to one of them. They even get hurt because one of them created some defensive magic-like spell. And the worst part is one of them seems to be in critical condition.

"That appearance! How could...?!" One of the adventurers was surprised as he saw the person who standing in front of him.

"No way! Lady Keres...! No! Who are you? How dare you use her appearance!" Another adventurer couldn't believe what he had just seen and glared at the woman in the black robe.

The other adventurers also realized her similarity with Keres and glared at her.

"How...?! To-Tower Master, why she had the same appearance as me?" A surprised voice came from the entrance.

"It's getting annoying because more and more pests coming here." The Tower Master felt annoyed because more people seemed to be coming to the Arena.

And strange reaction shows up from the black robe woman for the first time. She looked in Keres's direction, and tears came from her right eye.

"Ha, you still haven't thrown away your feelings as her mother or could it be your motherly love for her is that great? If you are in this condition, we better get back to our Lord." The Tower Master sneered and said to her.

'What!?!' Everyone who heard his words was surprised by the sudden, unexpected statement.

"She...she is my mother...??!" Keres was the most shocked person with the Tower Master's words.

The Tower Master grabbed the black robe woman's hand, and the pitch black magic power started to engulf both of them, and they disappeared from that place.

"Wa-Wait! Explain to me what you mean!" Keres tried to stop them, but it was already too late, as they had disappeared from that place.

Some people come and get closer to Ludger and Kismet's direction.

"Ludy! Are you alright?"

A few familiar people ran in Ludger's direction with worried expressions. All of them are the people who sense the abnormalities in Ludger's room and find out the messy room because of the fight and teleport magic. They quickly get some trustworthy people and get the information about the Arena from the Guild Master of the Adventurer Guild, Hudson.

"Boy, this is the first time I saw you looking like this." Hudson looks at Ludger's current messy appearance and frowns.

He knew Ludger's capabilities, but he never knew that Ludger and Kismet would be beaten by the black robe group members like this. Although Ludger seems to be in a better condition than Kismet, there's a trace of blood on his mouth, which shows his inside injury.

"Ugh..." Ludger, who feels relieved, loses all of his strength and falls back.

But someone holds his body and prevents it from falling down.

"You need healing magic and a doctor to carefully check your condition."

It was a familiar voice with an annoyed tone. But strangely, Ludger felt relaxed when he heard the usual criticism he spouted at him.

"I'm alright." Ludger answers reflexively with his usual answer.

"Did they hit your head too hard so you are still able to spout such nonsense?" Edgar answers with an annoyed and angry tone.

"I only need some rest and just took me back to 'Red Dawn Restaurant' and my mother and Brother Winslow will know what they had to do. I don't want to go to meet some unknown people right now. We didn't know if there were some of their members hidden in this city." Ludger quickly explained his answer to hide the truth about his secret.

It was actually a good argument that made most people unable to talk back or argue with his decision.

But suddenly Edgar just looks at Ludger's condition and puts him in the famous 'princess carry' position and goes to Red Dawn Restaurant.

"Hey, put me down!" Ludger feels embarrassed and surprised as he flails to make Edgar pull him down.

"Stop flailing or you will fall. In your current condition, you won't be able to walk. So, how will you go back to your home?" Edgar rebuked him with a cold expression and angry tone.

"I-I'm sorry...but this position is too embarrassing..." Ludger mumbled as he couldn't refuse Edgar's goodwill.

"Shut up! Do you know it was the best position to make sure you won't do something dangerous again. Maybe you really need someone to keep an eye on you and make sure you won't try any dangerous things ever again." Edgar continues his sermons.

'Did I look like those reckless main characters in some stories? Do you think I want to get into such situations?' Ludger feels Edgar is making some unfair judgement about him, but he can't say anything because he sees most people who listened to their conversation nod their heads as if agreeing with Edgar's words and decide to shut his mouth as Edgar tells him.

When Ludger want to protest about the injustice from their opinion, the tiredness he had holding back comes like a flood and he quickly loses consciousness. He could hear someone is calling his name but he was too tired to answer it and let his mind to rest after such battle.
