To escape my home

Jia Li placed her hands on Xianwu's chest as they peered into each other's eyes. "I thought we would give it time," she whispered and lowered her eyes in shyness.

"Of course, we will," Xianwu said. She felt his hand on her waistband as he pulled out the diary only to put it on the bedside table. "You didn't share the secrets written in the ledger you possess," he muttered.

"Secrets aren't meant to be shared," Jia Li said. "You should move away from me," she urged.

Xianwu promptly moved away and rested himself on his elbow. His free hand rested on her belly and he said, "Last night your dance amused me."

"Don't even speak about it. I'm embarrassed," Jia Li said. Her body stiffened when his lips made close contact with the skin on her neck. She gulped and looked up at the intricate patterns carved on the wooden ceiling. She fidgeted with her fingers, nervously thinking what would happen next.
