Jia Li carefully set the now empty bowl on the tray, which the attentive maidservant was holding. Gently, she dabbed the napkin over Xianwu's mouth, ensuring he was tidy, and then offered him a glass of water.

Xianwu took a few measured sips before tilting his head back. Placing the glass back onto the tray, Jia Li signaled the departure of the maidservant, who promptly exited the room.

"Yu Chen was pretty upset to see you hurt," Jia Li initiated the conversation. "You have a nice friend, who cares for you," she asserted.

"Hmm. You are right," Xianwu replied.

"I dragged you into all this. I apologize," Jia Li said.

Xianwu drew his brows close. "Don't do that. You didn't drag me into anything," he affirmed. He wondered if she heard his conversation with Yu Chen. But she's not in the chamber when they both were talking.

"Let's go out," Xianwu said and put his feet on the floor. He wore the shoes without the servant's help and stood up.
