The Descending

Infinite and unknown is what the cosmos is. Mere beings potentially born out of coincidence have no way to comprehend that which is incomprehensible, as it goes beyond the thinking of such creatures that lay at the bottom of a grand food chain. The pure belief that nothing else can exist is foolish, as anything could exist, but the question is, why would they ever decide to entertain our thoughts? or treat us as equals if they are perhaps greater? The only truth that is really known is that things may or may not exist outside our primitive scope of existence.

Constant tapping against the steering wheel, mumbling incoherent words that are most likely insults under their breath, and loud expressions of anger fly out the windscreens as numerous vehicles sit in an ever-growing line on the carriageway designed for fast travel, which is now a tortuous experience.

Large structures constructed out of steel that tower above the ants down below. The area has no room to breathe, think, or act as every inch is occupied by a singular or multiple beings known as humans in these large cities on this blue and green spherical planet. from one place to another in a rush as time was always short, meaning everything had to be done in a flash before the light in their eyes eventually fades away as the inevitable end approaches.

One specifically peaceful yet busy day up in the blue sky, a few jet-black lines appeared, all of which crossed over each other, creating a 2-dimensional flat form. However, they all eventually converged into a black sphere that was like a 3D image that had been created in the air, and it grew, going from about a metre in size to 30 metres in mere moments. Nothing happened after that, as only silence remained. Then, sporadically, a thick black liquid in the form of a small ball akin to a football spewed out the crack, hitting the ground below that the humans stood on and bursting as it attached to everything nearby, from blue jeans to red shirts to purple hair, all now darkened by the mysterious goop that seemingly did not harm anyone aside from those whose eyes were unfortunately disabled, as they stepped onto roads and made contact with any vehicle that was still moving as blood spread across the pavements and screams emerged at the horrid sight.

As the confusing events occurred, the orb began to shift, growing larger and larger, approximately now being akin to the size of a 2-story building, as something began to exit outward. This something was of a strange design consisting of beautiful white feathers arranged in a wing-like shape with at least a dozen more surrounding and floating around a singular optic point, though a single glance at this unnaturally breath-taking physiological nightmare confused any being with intelligence who even dared to try and understand what they were looking at. For a few seconds, it hovered high in the sky before coming crashing down as gravity seemed to affect this abomination, and the ground beneath itself was met with a force that knocked back any human around 10 metres away as well as any non-human nearby. At that moment, a scramble of letters triggered every mind across a 100-mile radius, and the last but only understandable word that lingered was "hunger."

The dust caused by the impact of the creature colliding with the ground soon cleared as a large crater was visible, and around it in several places and different positions were people whose bones had been shattered, and the ones left conscious were wailing in pain. In contrast to the people, the creature was absolutely unscathed, as if such a measly fall was not worth being harmed by. Eventually, it slowly slides out of the hole it was in, or more specifically, slowly levitates only a few inches off the ground, and looks down at the fleshy sentient buffet almost like a giant that looks down upon mice. The circling of the wings began to increase, getting faster and faster as the seconds passed, culminating in a bright white ring that caused the people within its proximity to levitate up into the air before aggressively hurling themselves towards the beast. They were pulled into the light and vanished from sight. It then began its slow movement as it headed forward and ramped up in speed as it used its body to smash through buildings head-first like a bulldozer on the move and showed no evidence that it was going to slow down, but this wasn't the end as several more blackish orbs formed in the sky and more of the black liquid from earlier was shot out and painted the land below in dread.

More of the same kind of monstrosity that was currently a threat was birthed through the black orbs, leading to an overwhelming enemy that humans could never have imagined. The creatures used their gift, as structures big and small were either obliterated or vanished completely from sight as if they had never existed in the first place. Some of these creatures that fell out of the orbs landed in the sea, which led to another terrifying discovery that the creatures still had many tricks as the water miraculously was converted into hydrogen, which when combined with the air resulted in a chain of powerful explosions.

A solution to combat these creatures then occurred as the clouds became grayer, and the people who could still think slightly rationally thought that perhaps the rain could blind the being or somehow make the wings harder to use, so the creature would be incapacitated at least for a while. However, in a twist of cruel fate, the clouds parted as fast as they had joined forces before another wave of incoherent noises entered the minds of the people. ending with a singular word.

"Foolish."

What followed these harrowing events was even more shock, terror, and complete cluelessness, as well as defeat, as some ran, some lost their will to live, and others tried to fight, but it is known that on that day the event known as "The Feasting" began and the eradication of humans was underway. Three questions were asked since that day repeatedly.  Who were these things? Why did they attack? And how can we possibly stop them? An answer to any of these questions was never delivered.
