The clock just struck noon and I was on my way home, from the terrible hell hole, school. I exited the busy streets of Norwing to the rocky, cold dirt road to Mt. Lingerjing Forest; It felt as though my house was very far from the world, because once you take 14 steps into the forest all of the city cars, honking, kids laughing and talking, all of the noises that fill in the oxygen you breath in and then carbon you breath out, all of it… it all starts canceling out. Soon enough it feels as though you've managed to escape your life, your reality. That was the best and probably the only good part about my parents leaving at my grandparent's place. I don't have to hear all of their bickering and arguing all of the time, in and out of my ear.
Chapter 3
As Carwyn reflected upon his day, he decided to take a detour to the river before heading back to his grandparent's house. At first, he heard a faint call in the distance but ignored it as he proceeded to wear his headphones. On his way to the river, he stopped by a ginkgo tree with weird marks embedded in it. Although he found the markings 7 years ago, it still feels as though he had seen it for the first time, new, fresh, and special. In the tree, it had a hollow where he kept a pisped flower, which is said to bring good health to whoever drinks its substance. This plant attracts a lot of animals, so it is sporadic, and at a certain level it is arcane in most parts of the world. Carwyn would regularly check up on the plant and water it, taking a lot of time.
Tumbling down the slope, then down, over the hill, he heard a yell for help. As he finally stopped tumbling he wondered what to do. Carwyn strategizes a few dozen ways on how he should proceed in handling the situation. However before he knew it, there he was; behind the tree shadows, coming forth to the light, the sun peeked at his cheek and then up to his brown eyes, which looked like the sunset itself, causing him to squint. The boy in front of him yelled again "Carwyn Oswal, are you there"?
This shook Carwyn and stepped out from behind the other tree and replayed: " "Who are you? And why have you called my name"?
The boy staggered a bit as he came forth to Carwyn. His right leg was limping, struggling to carry his weight with the additional weight of his wet clothes as the left leg dragged behind him, practically paralyzed. The boy slowly reached out his trembling hand, which seemed to have dirt smeared at various locations (including his clothes), with a large womb at the back of his arm. Carwyn was concerned for the boy, but stepped back, hesitant to help, knowing that the boy already knew who he was.
The possibility of him being a trap for Carwyn was high, and the possibility of him being a stalker was even higher. The last thing Carwyn needed was a person to kidnap him in the middle of his midterms before Hashton.
*Hashton is a holiday that comes after New Year's to celebrate the chance of life in another year. This holiday is celebrated for an additional 7 days for each 7 lords.
The first day is celebrated in honor of the leader, Eclipse. The Second day going down is then arranged in the order of the lords who were chosen first to last 5, Anthanaise ruler of the Sunlign, then Amaryas lord of martial arts, Evander creator of law, Kairo the Knight, and Charmayanne the magical physician; and the last day is saved for the strongest, Carwyn, Blessing's arms.
"P-please he-lp me…" Then thump, Brain fell, unconscious. Not knowing what to do, Carwyn pulled out his flip phone to call his grandparents.
"Hello? Carwyn is that you? Do you know what time it is!"
"Yes grandma, I do. But I'm in a bit of a situation".
"I don't care what type of situation you're in! If I had a heart attack I don't think the government is going to put my bill on hold now, will they?!"
"Grandma would you please jus-"
"You're just like your father. Back in the days he'd be back home late telling me why he had a new girlfriend!" "Huh, that piece of sh-"
"Grandma, there's someone who needs my help but they're knocked out cold!"
"Oh! Then why didn't you just say so?? You see this is what I always keep on telling you. You beating around in the bushes thinking that your sooo smart and then y-"
"GRANDMA! Somebody is going to get an infection and die if you don't help me."
"DON'T YOU RAISE YOUR VOICE AT ME YOUNG MAN! I swear when your father gets back imma show him my side of town and how I treat my kids! Maybe then your act will get better! Where are you?"
*Scuffs* "We'll see about that," Carwyn mumbles.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY, BOY!"
"I-I said I'm right next to the river, y-you know, the one near the pisped willow tree that's near the marsh".
"Oh… Ok, I'll be there".
By the time Grandma Kya came, Brain started to look reddish purple.
"Grandma, what do we do, I think he's suffocating?!"
"No, you fool, he's just very ill and possibly low in oxygen or blood. It would be best if we brought him to the emergency center. Hurry along now."
Grandma Kya and Carwyn hurried to the hospital as fast as they could and brought Brain Justin the nick of time. They later called Grandpa Honcho and explained to him what happened. 3 days have passed, and Carwyn and his gradians came to visit Brian.
"I hope he wakes up soon, 'cause I have questions."
"Ummh, what question?" Brian slowly replies as he wakes up.
"Oh, my pickle dipped in chocolate, not this soon! Imma go call the doctor"
Carwyn looks at his grandma walking away and wonders how he must bear the pain to his chagrin.
But Brian had other things in mind. Things that could bring as much catastrophe as it can bring peace. But more importantly, will Carwyn be able to accept?
"Carwyn, my friend, we must speak quickly while we still have time".
"What? No no no no, I'm asking the questions here?" Carwyn walked up at Brian's bedside and looked at him as though he had just asked a challenge.
All of a sudden Brian wrapped his hand around Carwyns neck with furry and changed the tone of his voice.
"You are not who you think you are, let alone know who you are".
Carwyn felt a chill, a chill of sudden realization that everything that was happening had finally been accepted as the truth.
Then boom, out of nowhere a few veins started growing out of Brian's arm, and mist spread through the floor rapidly. Carwyn was scared yet interested.
"Carwyn, I am Brian Blacksmith and you are a reincarnation of one of the seven lords."
A brown book with gold canvas cravings on the cover then appeared floating on top of Brian's hand. With one look Carwyn can already tell that it was no ordinary book, in fact, the very reason as to why it was so unusual was because the pages were black instead of white or brown.
"This is no ordinary book and you will come to know why, Carwyn"
"When will I know? You keep on telling me things half why and expect me to accept your words with no context!"
Brain grinned as though he was talking to his little brother whining about a secret.
"Patients, it is never wise to want the whole world when you have more than what many people possess."
Carwyn rolled his eyes and was tired of being lectured for the whole day.
"And what could that be?" He says sarcastically.
"Peace, mobility, and knowledge"
Carwyn got quiet and started to lower his guard and listen to more of what Brain had to say.
"Personally Carwyn I think that it's time you get your head out of your ass. Count our blessings and not your sorrows. Maybe then you can understand true patiens."
"Oh wow! Okay, so we're going there now huh?"
"The truth is never pretty and a person with a world of lies is even uglier. That was one of the first things that I was taught."
"..."
"We are in the verge of entering in a war, therefore Blessing is trying to find warriors to fight and save the world he has created. I was sent here by one of the founding fathers of life."
"Wait- How they are way. They're past dead and ashes! Who told you all of this?"
"Well my friends, I think it's time you heard my story, maybe most of the dots will connect," Brian said with a smirk on his face
"What about the book though," Carwyn said with anticipation.
"Well, that also comes in of course"
To be continued…
