I can't ever get over this book. Reading it was like being in a rollercoaster ride. I loved this book. Totally worth reading. Also, I can't believe that I love yws ❤️
i didn't think as a foreign reader that I would enjoy and just love a cultivation novel,Yan-lang and Qiao-lang their character development is beautiful as individuals and as a couple ,and the way the author let's the reader be part of the story is just loved that and the open ending of the novel plus the extras is superb 💕💕💕💕💕💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯 AMAZING 💯
At first I read it really fit the story. It's just that in the past I could never read the translation because no one translated it or because of language barriers. now i thank the author for translating this story here, so i can read the story.
Chapters 86-89 are missing, and from chapter 70 for several others on are massive cuts taken out of the story. But as for the story itself, after reading this, i intend to eventually buy a copy of the books just to have for myself, I loved it so much!!

I really liked the story, not only because i hadn't read much chinese fiction before, but also because of the philosophy. Not forgetting who you are in front of power and difficulties is very difficult. Accepting people as they are, with their bad parts, is also very hard. I can only wish to be like that one day.

Very mixed feelings about this one, after it was so passionately recommended to me. The first half of the novel is pretty solid; It's engaging with lots of colourful and intriguing characters, plenty of spectacular fights, and vibrant world-building. It was easy to become immersed in this world. The second half somehow turned into long rambles about history and politics, with an array of characters that were all quite forgettable; It honestly felt like reading a textbook in certain chapters. Shen Qiao is a likeable protagonist, and he's what kept me going when other aspects of the novel were failing to impress, though i do feel his passivity works to his detriment sometimes. Yan Wushi was amusing at first, and he did some truly unforgivable things to Shen Qiao that really expressed how evil he was - However, I do wish his character growth in the end had been more compelling. I was also expecting a slow-burning 'enemies to lovers' style romance, but struggled to find much romance at all in this novel. There wasn't a hint of it even 90 chapters in, which made the developments in the later chapters feel rather abrupt and hard to believe. Overall, i can sort of see the appeal of this novel, but i feel the execution is lacking when it comes to the romance and world-building in the second half.
