Chapter 6: Provocation by the Secret Society

The man had the pale skin characteristic of vampires, and his appearance was slightly inferior to Benjamin and Alexander. However, his smile was enchanting, sending shivers down one's spine. His green eyes gleamed with an eerie light in the darkness, alert like a cat and fixed on Emily as if a hungry vulture had spotted its prey.

Emily felt extremely uncomfortable under his intense gaze. Since she was sitting on the ground, she had to look up to meet his eyes. This angle frustrated her greatly. She quickly stood up, but the man's towering figure forced her to continue tilting her head to maintain eye contact. This infuriated her, but she tried to make her voice sound mocking, "Sister knows she's beautiful. Your interest in me just proves you're normal. But, I'm sorry to say, you're not my type. I suggest you don't waste your time on me."

The man chuckled at Emily's self-proclaimed title, "Little girl, daring to call yourself sister in front of me. Good! You've got guts!"

In truth, Emily's palms were already sweaty. The sense of danger and oppression this man brought was dozens of times greater than Alexander's. But she refused to back down, bravely provoking him as she looked into his eyes.

Benjamin stood up at some point, looking proudly at the man and sneering, "Monroe, it seems that the Vanthor clan has no one left? They had to send an old relic like you!"

Encounters with the Secret Society and their occasional provocations were nothing new to Benjamin. It usually ended in a fight, but this time, he felt something was different. The Secret Society had sent Monroe, an elder, and there were a significant number of warriors lurking around. Benjamin anxiously glanced at Emily. Could they be after her?

The man known as Monroe clicked his tongue and playfully raised a finger, swaying it back and forth. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. I'm now called Yulun. Don't get it wrong."

Emily burst into laughter, "Yulun? I prefer Submarine!"

A chill flashed through Yulun's eyes, and two beams of light shot out from his green pupils. Emily froze for a moment as the name "Yulun" echoed in her mind. She immediately realized she had been hypnotized by him.

"Enough nonsense. What brings you here today?" Benjamin asked sternly.

Yulun shook his head with a smirk, "Kids just can't control their impatience! Originally, I planned to capture you and use you to threaten that old man, Boris. But..." Yulun's eyes turned sinister as he looked at Emily, his interest piqued. "But now, I'm more interested in this little girl!"

Instinctively, Benjamin pulled Emily behind him, but this action only deepened Yulun's amusement. His smile grew, as if he had become even more intrigued. "It seems this girl is important to you. I have no other interests, but my sole pleasure lies in taking what others hold dear!"

After saying this, Yulun moved at a speed invisible to Benjamin and instantly appeared behind Emily. He lightly laughed and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her away from Benjamin's side. His speed was several times faster than Benjamin's, catching Emily off guard. She felt dizzy, her head spinning, and a nauseating sensation similar to motion sickness.

A chilling sensation ran through Benjamin's body, and he realized that he was no match for this guy. He couldn't even put up a fight. He discreetly reached into his pocket and pressed a shortcut on his phone, activating a direct line of communication with Boris.

Yulun was too preoccupied with teasing Emily to notice Benjamin's action. He buried his head in the curve of Emily's neck, taking a deep sniff and appearing to enjoy it. Although Emily couldn't see his face, she could imagine his expression from his voice. It sent shivers down her spine, and she pushed against him with disgust. However, her efforts were futile as Yulun's hand remained tightly clasped around her waist. Her entire back pressed against his cold and broad chest.

"Although I have seen countless beauties over these thousands of years," Yulun calmly remarked, "you are the most beautiful I've encountered!" He brushed his breath against Emily's neck. Emily knew that vampires didn't need to breathe, so the artificial coolness of his breath felt forced and made her uncomfortable.

"Thousands of years? Should I call you 'Uncle,' 'Sir,' or... 'the Undying Old Man?'" Emily struggled a few more times but couldn't break free. She looked at Benjamin with pleading eyes, but he showed no intention of coming to her aid. This infuriated her, and she clenched her teeth, silently cursing him as a coward.

Yulun didn't get angry; instead, he chuckled lightly. "We're not that familiar yet, so don't use such intimate terms."

Emily felt her skin turning ice-cold as his breath brushed against it, and the sensation was unpleasant. Coupled with his provocative language, it sent shivers down her spine. Benjamin's indifference added fuel to her anger. In a fit of rage, she forcefully bumped her elbow against Yulun's chest and stomped on his foot. Yulun winced in pain, loosening his grip, allowing Emily to break free from his embrace. She swiftly moved to the side but didn't go to Benjamin's side.

Yulun held his chest, looking at Emily in disbelief. His face showed a mix of anger and amusement, then turned into hearty laughter. His tone became even more alluring. "Well done! Today, this 'undying old man' has marked you as his prey!"

Yulun gathered his strength, preparing to teleport, but then he heard Boris's voice saying, "Are you doing well?"

He halted his movement, remaining in place. Boris appeared next to Benjamin. Father and son were both so handsome that it aroused envy. Yulun felt resentment but maintained a smile on his face, his tone filled with sarcasm. "Boris, old man, how come you have so much free time today? Are you willing to leave your lair? I thought you were afraid of us. Charlotte only sent her lackeys to deal with us, afraid to face us herself."

Boris remained unruffled, squinting his eyes with a crescent-shaped expression of disdain. His stunning face carried a faint smile, framed by his sleek golden short hair that had a silky shine. His deep green eyes seemed ghostly.

Emily was dumbfounded. She had just heard Yulun refer to Boris as the "old man," automatically imagining a white-haired, hunchbacked elderly man with few teeth left. She completely forgot that Boris himself was a vampire who had lived for thousands of years. Seeing Boris appear before her, her gaze was captivated, unable to look away.

"Well, I am getting old, but I've lost interest in many things. I prefer staying at home and reading books or such. Unlike you, still seeking pleasures despite your age. Take care of your bones!" Boris's deep voice, like the depths of the sea, made Emily's eyes sparkle even more. She silently shouted in her mind, wondering if there could be anyone more perfect in this world.

"Benjamin has good taste. I like this girl. If you don't mind, hand her over to me. This boy is still young and inexperienced. He can't satisfy a young girl like her. Otherwise, the Les Ambré family will become the laughingstock of the world!" Yulun looked at Emily, his eyes filled with primal desire.

"So, you're saying I should thank you for taking care of Les Ambré's reputation?" Boris also glanced at Emily, but this time he paused for a moment, stunned by her beauty, which truly resembled that of a celestial being.

Thinking that Boris was giving in, Benjamin discreetly tugged at his sleeve. With Emily's abilities exposed, she would undoubtedly become the target of all the vampire clans. If she stayed in Les Ambré, she would have their protection and a chance to survive. If she fell into Yulun's hands, it would be a certain death.

Boris smiled gently at Benjamin and then turned his gaze to Yulun, as if countless knives were flying through the air, piercing directly into his heart. His tone became sharp. "However, you don't have to worry about it. I am quite fond of this girl. She is the chosen princess of Les Ambré."

Everyone present, including Emily, was stunned. Les Ambré princess? What was that?

Yulun suddenly dropped the smile from his face, his pale visage turning sinister and terrifying. "Since we can't reach an agreement, it seems we'll have to settle this by force!"

As soon as he finished speaking, a large group of vampires emerged from the shadows behind Yulun, their eyes all blue, standing in formation. Les Ambré didn't back down either, as a large group of vampires with blue eyes appeared behind Boris, the two sides evenly matched in numbers.

Emily looked left and right, everyone was so good-looking! Her eyes were dazzled from all the beauty! She noticed Alexander was also there, looking nonchalant and completely different from the others who were ready for battle. It seemed like he had no interest in this impending violent confrontation, and his expression almost suggested that he wanted Yulun to take Emily away.

She glared at him, and Alexander happened to look her way, casually glancing before turning his attention to the grass.

Perhaps realizing that there was no point in more idle talk, Boris didn't say anything and simply made a hand gesture. The two groups of vampires dissolved into a chaotic blur, their movements so swift that if one were a regular human, they would only see fleeting shadows, unable to discern what they were doing.

Their attire didn't differ due to their affiliation with different clans. They each wore whatever they pleased—some in flashy t-shirts, others in suits, and some in casual sportswear. Emily couldn't tell who was who and had no way to help. She could only stand there, stunned. Benjamin, Boris, and Yulun stood on the sidelines, observing the battle, while the only three individuals she could recognize didn't show any intention of intervening.

Boris and Yulun locked eyes, as if their gaze alone could determine the winner, neither willing to back down.

Benjamin walked up to Emily, wanting to protect her and fearing that the innocent might be harmed. However, Emily snorted and took a few steps back, turning her face toward the moon, ignoring him.

"What's the matter? We can talk about it later. Now is not the time for childish tantrums!" Benjamin's voice carried a stern tone.

Emily wasn't buying it and erupted, pointing her finger at him. "Now you come here with your after-the-fact heroics! Where were you when I needed help earlier? Coward! Hmph!" Without waiting for his response, she impulsively joined the battle, attacking indiscriminately without distinguishing friend from foe.

Both groups were fully engaged in the fight, and no one expected this human, Emily, to suddenly jump in and get involved. Caught off guard, several vampires were sent flying, both Les Ambré and the Mordor Clan. After crashing heavily to the ground, they struggled to stand up.

Boris and Yulun couldn't help but be drawn to Emily's actions, but the contents of their gazes were entirely different.
