The car was entangled by tree branches. Emily tried to forcefully open the doors, but they remained immovable. In frustration, she kicked the door, causing it to break off. Yuri let out a sharp intake of breath as sunlight hit his arm, quickly retreating into the shadow of the bedsheet.
At this moment, Emily yearned for her weapons. However, during the siege in Lesenbar, they had lost all their weapons. Olivia's silver sword and her own dagger were nowhere to be found amidst the chaos. Emily jumped onto the car's hood and used her hand to chop off a branch.
The movements of the ancient tree ceased momentarily, but then all the branches converged and launched a fierce attack on Emily. She somersaulted off the car, landing on the ground, while the tree flung the car aside, focusing all its strength on attacking Emily.
With a loud crash, the car fell to the ground. Fortunately, it hadn't ascended too high, so the sound was just that of some broken parts, without any signs of an explosion. However, Benjamin let out a muffled groan from the trunk, and Yuri stayed hidden in the nearly wrecked car, too afraid to come out.
Emily's vision was still shrouded in thick fog, unable to discern the direction. Standing on the ground, she could barely see where the ancient tree was. She closed her eyes and relied on sound to evade the tree's attacks, feeling completely on the defensive.
"Two witches behind you!" Yuri's voice rang in Emily's ears.
In an instant, Emily leaped into the air. Just as she took off, she felt two sharp gusts of wind pass by her feet like razor blades. But as soon as her body lifted off, several branches tightly entwined around her, immobilizing her completely.
Yuri sat in the car, feeling anxious. It was like being caught between a rock and a hard place—failing to deal with the witches and now provoking an ancient tree. He was currently helpless, watching as the sunlight grew stronger and his own power weakened.
Emily struggled against the branches, but they held her tightly, leaving her unable to move an inch. The sound of rushing wind echoed in her ears. Suddenly, her arm stung, and a stream of crimson blood flowed down from a clean, deep gash on her arm, almost revealing the bone. The searing pain made Emily break into a sweat.
"Sister, let's avenge our second sister!" a female voice rang out with a malicious tone.
"Yes, let's heal our second sister with her desires!" another voice followed, sounding more mature and sinister, sending shivers down one's spine.
Emily's arm quickly healed as the two witches spoke. In the gap between their words, the pain vanished, and when she opened her eyes again, her surroundings cleared up. The dense fog disappeared, replaced by a quaint and picturesque town. Two witches with flowing long hair and sinister expressions stood before her, alongside a not particularly tall but sturdy ancient tree and a dilapidated car.
Emily felt a surge of delight. With her hand forming a blade, she swiftly severed the branches that entangled her and attacked the witches.
She leaped onto the shoulder of one witch and then immediately jumped down. Her combat experience with vampires made her instinctively want to twist off their heads when she didn't have a weapon in hand, but these witches were still human, and Emily hesitated to spill their blood on the spot.
"They are black witches, show them no mercy!" Yuri's voice echoed in Emily's ears once again.
Emily looked perplexed towards the car. What were black witches? But judging from Yuri's tone, they certainly weren't good people.
In the moment of Emily's hesitation, one of the witches muttered an incantation and cast a spell. Suddenly, Emily felt as if her feet were filled with lead, making every step difficult. Her agility from moments ago vanished, as if each movement had been slowed down by several tens of times. The approaching witch seemed to be in slow motion, but waves of pain surged through Emily's body. She struggled to lower her head and noticed several wounds on her body.
Emily sensed something draining from her, and gradually, her emotions calmed down...
Yuri suddenly leaped out of the car and caught the witches off guard. He delivered a lethal blow to one of the witches from behind, piercing her heart with his elongated nails. The witch's eyes widened as she looked at her own chest, shocked by the fatal strike.
"Little sister!" the other witch shouted loudly, her eyes glinting with coldness as she charged towards Yuri.
Emily's body went limp as she collapsed to the ground, the magic that had imprisoned her dissipating. She was covered in numerous wounds, but she watched the ongoing battle with indifference. The sunlight shone upon Yuri, and smoke rose from his body, his skin turning red. The smell of burning flesh filled the air.
Yet Emily remained lying on the ground, unmoving, seemingly content.
"Emily! Get your ass up!" Yuri yelled anxiously while still engaged in combat with the witch.
Why was he yelling? Emily looked at Yuri, but she remained motionless.
During a brief pause in the battle, Yuri glanced at Emily, his face expressionless. It pained him to see her in that state. His gaze turned as cold as a blade, freezing everything around him, and almost instantly, the witch met her demise.
Yuri threw the last dead witch into the car, quickly ran over, picked up Emily, and dashed into the vehicle. Smoke still emanated from his face, which was now red and in a sorry state. His once handsome appearance was now disheveled, resembling a roasted suckling pig.
Yuri placed Emily carefully and then pulled the witch towards him. He sank his teeth into her neck, and fresh blood instantly filled his mouth. His face gradually regained its pallid color, with no trace of the sunburn left.
After draining her blood, Yuri pressed his fingertip on the center of the witch's forehead. A small ball of light appeared at his fingertip, which gradually grew larger until it was about the size of a palm before ceasing its expansion.
Yuri looked at the ball of light on his fingertip, his eyebrows slightly furrowing. It was too much. He lightly tapped his other index finger on the glowing halo, and a peanut-sized cluster of light adhered to his finger. Satisfied with the smaller amount, he disdainfully wiped off the larger ball on the lifeless body of the witch.
Yuri brought his finger closer to Emily's brow, who simply looked at him expressionlessly. He gazed at her lifeless yet exquisite face and suddenly grinned mischievously. He put the ball of light into his own mouth.
Yuri's face drew nearer, his icy breath growing closer. The faint scent of blood roses filled the air, permeating his breath. Emily sat still, watching Yuri approach inch by inch, obediently like a little kitten.
His cool lips pressed against Emily's, and the small halo of light slipped into her mouth along Yuri's tongue. Yuri explored her mouth, intertwining and suckling with a lingering passion.
The halo of light wandered through her body, eventually vanishing within her brain. Emily's eyes gradually regained some focus, no longer lost and confused. When all the halos merged with her, Emily suddenly pushed Yuri away, and a resounding slap echoed in the car.
"You scoundrel!" Emily glared at him angrily.
"Tsk, tsk," Yuri smirked, displaying an enticing smile that was both insolent and captivating, making one want to kick him to death and yet unable to look away. "Adding insult to injury, huh? Take a look, how about making up for it by offering yourself to me as an apology!" Yuri pointed to the spot on his face where Emily had slapped him, leaning in closer.
