Prologue

"Jiau Nianzhen..." she muttered under her breath as the rain poured heavily and winds caressed her soaked body. Her name card was tarnished by the water that seeped between the tiny cracks after being drenched.

Nianzhen was filled with grief at the moment. She lost her job due to a minor accident — she accidentally spilled some freshly brewed tea on her boss' girlfriend's face, sitting beside the counter. It was not entirely her fault. A jealous colleague of hers intentionally tripped her, thus creating the accident. She has excelled in everything for the last 5 years of her job. She even got promoted to senior fashion designer on the primary team two years ago, increasing her salary quickly and making some of her colleagues envious.

The accident scalded the woman's face, and when the news reached their boss, he immediately fired her. Nianzhen was naturally meek and introverted, so she could not defend herself and accepted her fate half-heartedly. Her mind was clouded with anxiety and confusion. She packed her things and rushed to leave the office.

She ran through the wet road, causing her to slip and fall. Her name card was submerged in a puddle, and she briefly stared at it. A light flashed beside her when she was about to pick up her stuff. The rain roared with the thunder while adding to the crimson pool on the road.

"Is that it?" Her last words were left unheard among the crowd gathering around her.

Nianzhen rose to her feet and shook off the wetness in her arms. Turning around, the scenery suddenly changed. The crowd vanished, and the rain stopped. She was in an unfamiliar place. Only a sea of clouds covered the ground, and a crescent blue moon illuminated the dark place.

She ventured into the area following the moon, which turned out to be an infinite field. A voice whispered in her ears, "They abused my kindness... Let them pay!" The poor girl stood frozen on her feet, puzzled by the situation. The voice repeated the exact words until a cool breeze was felt on her skin. A wisp of light appeared from thin air and entered her heart. It felt gentle and warm, like the first sunlight after the cold winter, making her fall unconscious.
