Chapter 6

TW: suicide

Laura woke up with a splitting headache, shocked to see the empty bottle of whiskey. She came out into the living room and saw her husband.

He looked over at her before saying, "Good morning."

She didn't respond. He continued to speak.

"Some of my buddies in Rome called me up, they are going for a trip in a few days and invited me... so yeah I'm leaving again... I can't find the damn rope."

"Mike..."

"Laura just tell me where the rope is please..."

"I don't know where it is."

"Well then ask Camille if she's seen it, it couldn't have just disappeared into thin air."

Laura sighed and then called Camille's name.

"Camille!"

No answer.

"Camille!"

Still no answer. Laura sighed frustrated and went up the steps. She walked down the hallway to Camille's closed door.

She opened it and stepped in. And to the side... right in front of the curtains... there was the rope, and there was Camille... her daughter... the daughter she'd been treating so badly because years of hurt and trauma built on her... the daughter she treated badly because she couldn't find it in herself to admit she had a problem.

Laura took it all in and broke into an ear shattering scream, the howl of a wounded animal.

Mike, downstairs yelled. "What the hell is going on." He ran upstairs and down the hallway.

Laura was on her knees tears in her eyes and she looked completely frightened and out of her mind.

Mike stepped in and turned his head, looking and seeing what Laura did.

Camille.... their baby... there she was.. stone cold... unmoving..

It had only been a month and a half since her grandmother's passing...

Mike was at a loss for words and all he could do was stare at the hanging corpse of what was once his daughter, all he could do was stare and feel the panic in his heart.

He knelt down beside Laura who was uncontrollably sobbing. He didn't feel himself crying, he didn't even know he was crying, he couldn't feel at all.

911 was called. The paramedics there at this house once again. For the same reason. Death.

The rope was taken down. Camille's body was lowered onto the stretcher, the same way her grandmother had been. The white sheet being placed over her face.

Her mother watching and feeling wild. Her parents climbing into the back of the ambulance though there was no chance of saving.... she was gone....

Camille's phone had been left on her bed. She had a few missed calls from Dean and a text saying, ~Call me when you see this~

But she wouldn't be calling anyone...
