Chapter 22: Encounter at the camp

It was Saturday now.

Dean had packed all of his things up and hopped into his truck. On his way he picked up his friend Jackson and they rode together.

It took about half an hour for Dean to get there from his house, and after picking up Jackson. They stopped to get food on the way, three boxes of a dozen donuts. Dean knew Camille's favorite was a sugar raised. He got two of them in a separate box, especially for her.

Jackson carried the boxes over to a table and announced to everyone what they had brought. They were lucky to have come with a great considering they were the last ones to arrive and were starting to irritate everyone.

Dean walked around searching for Camille. Just as he spotted her Lia walked up in front of him.

"Hey Dean!"

"Oh hey Lia."

Camille heard his name, only to see Lia with him and glower at them again.

She turned facing towards the water and began walking away.

Dean saw this and panicked.

"Listen Lia, I've got to go really quick, but I'll talk to you later okay?"

She nodded as he pushed past her, not caring much about what her reaction would be.

"Cami!"

Camille kept walking.

"Cami." Dean wanted breathlessly after catching up with her.

Camille turned around to face him sharply.

"I thought I told you not to call me that..."

Dean paused. "Right, I forgot, I'm sorry."

She kept walking ahead of him. Dean followed.

"Camille what's the matter with you, what happened?"

"Dean I don't really want to talk to you right now."

"Camille please tell me, what happened, what did I do wrong?"

Camille shook her head and kicked some of the water from the lake.

Dean grabbed her arm, but gently, as if to show her he cared.

"Please Camille... Please."

Her stubborn streak seemed to break.

She spoke the words quickly and quietly.

"What's with you and Lia."

She looked down as she knudged the sand with her toe. Dean had to stop himself from laughing, not only did she look adorable, this was the first time Dean had ever seen Cami jealous.

"Camille, Lia is my friend... She always has been she always will be... I'm not interested in her, I thought you knew that..."

Camille went speechless. Dean was inadvertently confessing to her.

Just then the teachers interrupted.

"COME ON NOW EVERYONE, WE'VE GOT TO GET YOU INTO GROUPS FOR THE DAY."

Dean and Cami walked back to the camping ground together.

The other team leader had been that Michael boy. Dean hoped and prayed he didn't get placed in his group. Otherwise this trip may be ruined for him.

But of course... It seemed as though the world was against him. The teachers decided it would be better to separate them into boys and girls considering they had to sleep separately anyways.

So now for the remainder of the day he was stuck with Michael. Dean glanced over at Cami, willing her to look at him. She did.

He gave her a small wave.

~Dammit, now how am I going to talk to her?~
