· — not yet corpses,

but still we rot.

Kira was left in the library, merged in the thoughts of the new boy he had just met. He saw the young boy's tiny silhouette disappear by the corner of the blurred glass door. He smiled at the thought of how cutely the boy smiled and the feeling that bloomed in his chest like a flower. He felt like he was lying on a bed of flowers.

Flowers of purity and innocence. Flowers of love.

He smiled as he got up to write his name on the registry book for the book he was borrowing from the library. The book that his new friend told him about.

He made his way back to his class and attended his respective subject period, biology. Kira somehow liked biology. He was quite intrigued by the insides of the human body and how the heart and brain help operate the body with the help of blood. He likes how the blood runs in the veins and then oozes out whenever there is a cut or injury. He likes the color of blood. The red liquid~

He likes it more when it's someone else's, all smeared on his hands and clothes.

Kira walked casually and lazily as he went to his classroom. He knew he was going to get scolded for going to the class late. He didn't give a fuck about it all, though. He slides the door open swiftly and quietly, but enough to be noticeable for the present teacher to acknowledge his arrival.

"Akihiko-San, may I ask why are you late? You almost missed a period. Don't you think that's offensive for a teacher and a disturbance for everyone in the class?" The teacher questions, Kira remained unfazed. He didn't care about it.

"I don't think that's offensive, really. I'm literally seven minutes and twenty-eight seconds late. That's not even close to the first ten minutes of the class," Kira deadpanned. His unique two-coloured eyes were staring straight at his Sensei's eyes, making him visibly uncomfortable. Kira knew what he was doing and he wasn't afraid.

"Now, would you let me in or do you want me to barge in?" The black-haired boy knew he was being rude but he had his reason. He didn't like this new teacher; his previous one was way better. Also, on top of that, the teacher behaved rudely with Makino!

Kira made eye contact with him, who was sitting in the middle row to the right, on the third bench among the four seat rows. Makino rolled his grey eyes, unsurprised. He was so used to this protective behaviour of Kira towards him.

"N-no. Come in." The Sensei stammered before letting Kira in. Kira sat down on the seat beside Makino to the right, by the windows.

"Why did you act like that? What did he do to you?" Makino whispered to him as he sat and sighed.

"He didn't do anything to me but to you. He better not harass you, or I'm going to slaughter him as soon as I hear about it." Kira replied, not minding the weird, terrified look he got from the boy in front of him. He pushed his glasses upwards on his nose with the help of middle and ring finger of his left hand.

Akihiko Kira was rather famous at Saitama High School. Not just for his unique eyes or looks or physique, but also for his psychopathic behaviour. The demeanor he gives off radiates psychopathic rays.

Students and some teachers feared him because of how terrifying he could be. He doesn't need words, his two-colored eyes are enough for people to back away from him. But teachers are proud of him, those who know him better, because he is quite efficient in his studies and academic curriculum. He doesn't disappoint.

Since he is quite athletic and unusually good at sports, other students would rather protest against him than let him participate. He doesn't let anyone win in the games, as per the other participants. So, to pass his time in this hell hole of a school, he goes to the library. Reading books and biographies and past lives of the world's most renowned serial killers and psychopaths.

They fascinated him and inspired him to be what he is today: a secret assassin.

Yes. Akihiko Kira is an infamous assassin in the alleyways of Saitama Prefecture. Literally the best assassin out there. He takes a huge payment for an assassination. He doesn't check for races, colour, gender, or ages. Whenever or whoever he has been told to assassinate, he does it. without any remorse or guilt.

Those feelings died long ago and he didn't even realise it nor care about it.

Kira liked biology, like I told you before. But it's the teacher he doesn't like. It's not his fault for feeling that. The teacher was just rude and a pain in the neck. Not just Kira, but most of the students in his class didn't like the teacher either. But that's not the matter now.

The question is, when will the school time break? He wanted to go home and sleep already. The periodic classes were getting on his nerves.

"Oi, focus on the class." Makino called out. Kira clicked his tongue in distaste and moved his eyes from the window to Makino.

"What do you find interesting in history class, Maki?" Kira said, resting his head on his hand as he leaned on the table. Makino sighed and shook his head, disappointed at Kira's remark.

"Nothing to be disappointed about. History sucks. All we get is studies about the past wars and the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. I'm tired, bruh, don't piss me off." Kira stated before taking his position to take a nap, burying his head in his arms while leaning on the table comfortably.

"Kira, it's literally the last class. Don't sleep!" Makino called him annoyingly as he poked him with his pencil.

"Alright class, please take your homework for the weekend. I want your homeworks submitted by our next class." The teacher instructed while gently taking her books and notes in her files to go out of the class. She wrote the homework on the board with a chalk and left.

"Kira, what happened to you? Why are you acting like this?" Makino finally said it. He was acting weirder than usual, and that was getting on his nerves.

"I want to sleep, Maki-Chan." Kira said groggily.

"Okay, let's go home now. Last night was a real pain. I understand that you couldn't sleep properly."

"Properly? Dude, I couldn't sleep at all! I hate my job sometimes." Kira said, slinging his backpack on his back and walking out of the class with Makino close behind.

Kira's best friend, also known as Tadashi Makino, was Kira's best ally who knew everything about his assassin job, I mean, he is the one treats Kira's wounds being Kira's personal doctor and informer. He is also Kira's adoptive brother. A little back story here—

It is said that psychpaths are born. It was the same for Kira. Kira was born a psychopath and his biological parents couldn't understand it. His parents were unstable mentally as well. Kira's father was an alcoholic, while Kira's mum was a drug addict and a clinically depressed patient.

Kira's psychopathy showed when he was in preschool. He would beat up his bullies (who thought he was a stupid and ordinary boy, which he wasn't) and smile, acting like nothing happened. But there, Tadashi Makino seemingly understood the boy well.

Complaints went to his household almost every day, which made his parents get sick of him and disown him. They were sick of a child whom they didn't ask for. Even though he was born, they couldn't take care of him and left him on the streets' dumpster to die.

Makino and his mother happened to walk down the same street where Kira was left by the dumpster. Makino recognised his best friend and asked his mum if he could take him home. There they heard everything from Kira and Makino's parents decided to adopt him legally, which they did. They felt very bad for the boy and disgraced his parents.

That's how Akihiko Kira became a part of the Tadashi family.

"At least you get paid." Makino joked as he held Kira, who wasn't able to walk properly.

"Thanks, but it's hard still. I almost got caught last night. I also need to buy some more orleander flowers." Kira said as they walked down the school stairs.

"Yeah right. Our parents still think that orleander flowers are our favourite, and we both love gardening." Kira laughed at Makino's fact that they were both walking to the bus stand.

"Kira-Kun! Hi!" He heard a familiar soft voice, which made his heart do a back flip. He turned around and saw Yume.

"Ah, Yume-Chan! You're going home?" Kira asked in the softest voice. Makino was shocked at the sudden tone change.

"Yes, you were going down the same path as me, so I thought maybe I should say bye to you properly. I couldn't say it back in the library like I should." Yume said, fiddling with his fingers. Kira smiled, and Makino doubted that he ever saw that smile on Kira's face.

"Aww, that's so sweet of you."

"Okay then, bye bye, Kira-Kun. See you tomorrow!" He said this after he heard Kiyoshi and Ryobe calling him from ahead.

"Bye," Kira said as he saw the younger walk away, making a toodles gesture with his slender fingers.

"You're going to tell me or do you want me to find out for myself?" Kira smirked at Makino's words.
