CHAPTER XIV- LIFE ON THE LINE 2

The way a person's perceptions in a situation can often determine their actions and the outcome of a situation.

...

Swooosh!

Swooosh!

Ethan had taken out two more zombies in a row. Making the total amount of zombie he had killed three.

With each second that passed, his grip on his manifested sword grew stronger and stronger.

"Ugh!, I can't keep them at the door for long, I need a new plan."

With Ethan alone trying to hold back the zombies from not entering his room was impossible with each passing second.

Slowly but surely, Ethan's speed and strength increased gradually.

His body seemed lighter and with each movement made

, was easier and with each swing of his manifested sword, it was swifter than the last. Soon he found himself cutting zombie heads off faster and easier without suffering some casually, counting out the bite he already had some moment ago.

With arm movement as agile as that of a baby water snake, the heads of countless zombies came off in a single swing, three at most. The zombies were very close to him.

He would lift his left had which had the shield to block incoming and pending attacks and then he would swing his sword right afterwards.

His killing strategy was extremely simple yet helpful.

With his eyes focused on his enemies, his heightened senses were in full display at the moment due to the adrenaline coursing through his veins.

"Only two more left to go"

At the entrance of his room were dead bodies of mutated humans lying on the ground headless and some inner organs laying on the ground.

Severed parts of bodies layed in disarray all around. Blood dyed the ground , flowing like endless river into the neatlt painted white room. The carpet in the room which was extremely close to the door with the purpose of serving as a welcome carpet was dyed in blood completely.

The red colour which was definitely red, could have been mistaken for it's original colour if it wasn't for the still flowing blood and white parts of the carpet which were still white and yet to be touched by blood.

Ethan stood there, waiting for the zombies to get closer to him as they were the last zombies he had yet to terminate.

With blood dripping down his bronze, Cristal-sword(katana), he rose his hand up as he took a step forward, then when the zombies were in his range of attack, he struck out with swift movement and added a bit of strength behind it.

Then, on the ground came rolling severed heads of mutated humans with blood gushing out of their severed necks with the rest of their bodies still intact, and then fell lifeless onto the ground directly onto the other corpses.

Ethan's facial muscles eased up. He closed his eyes as he received countless messages of on his retina. Soon, he felt his body enveloped in a blissful energy completely unknown to him as he absorbed the life essence of his enemies.

His stats kept increasing, he had his eyes closed in the whole process, His body felt even more nourished as he gained his lost stamina as he felt his energy being refilled again.

A frown appeared on his handsome face as he soon ignored it, as at the moment, everything that was happening was a complete anomaly to him at the moment.

There was a lot he wanted answers to just like anyone else. He didn't want to waist whatever sanity he had left trying to figure out what he felt in his being.

For the mean time,he focused on the satisfying and refreshing energy he felt merging with his entire being . He embraced the moment as much as he could as even he knew it would end in a matter of seconds.Soon enough, he had finished absorbing all there was to absorb.

He slowly opened his closed eyes, it's was very clear than it used to be and in an instant, there was a blue flash in his pupils as it then vanished instantly as fast as it came.

The first thing his gaze shifted to was the gauntlets he had on.

In a matter of minutes, Ethan had already slaughtered up to 29 zombies in total.

His body was brimming with immeasurable energy at the moment.

If he had to fight the same zombies again, he felt like he could kill them in probably half the time he spent just now.

He could feel his life span increase by a few years at most.

He didn't know how but he knew his life span had increased quite a bit, ba a few years at most. Lets say the average lifespan of a healthy person is 67, he felt like he had gained 2 more years at least or at most.

What he felt earlier wa something strange.

Everything that was happening was indeed very, very strange but for some reason, he felt as if whatever it was that he noticed earlier was utterly out of the ordinary this time.

Earlier when Ethan was absorbing the life essence of the now lifeless zombies, Part of the life essence and energy he absorbed was being sucked or more like being stolen from something around him, something he was extremely close with.

He then realized the source with a clear inspection and flow of energy around him.

He had long since figured out how mana and life energy he absorbed felt like.

He then traced the pattern part of the life essence and manner he wasn't absorbing was headed to while he had his eyes closed through the entire absorbing process.

He followed the flow of the stray mana and life essence he wasn't absorbing, it led to the one thing that was quite a shocker yet reasonable.

All the stray energy led to his gauntlets.

It absorbed the energy as it glowed with a brighter bronze light. Though curious, he wasn't surprised at this point. He only knew to expect what would be considered impossible a few hours ago when things were normal.
