"Looks like I'm done for." Despite the odds, Victor stifled a laugh.

From the start, he hadn't entertained the notion of emerging victorious in a one-on-one duel against someone of Eclipse's caliber.

Furthermore, the items weren't on his side, and Eclipse likely had a few more items courtesy of Maya, their alchemist.

Victor stole a quick glance at the narrowing horizon. Two more minutes, and victory would be within their grasp.

Eclipse seized the opportunity, and exploited a momentary lapse in Victor's guard.

A potent poison from Eclipse's spell that no item or equipment could defend coursed through Victor's veins, sapping his strength and rendering him vulnerable.

Despite his best efforts, Victor succumbed to Eclipse's strikes.
