Chapter 4:Rules in the school

When Rose got back into her dorm, she started looking around the room and thought her roommate must be really neat because the room was spotless. She began unpacking her things, putting them into her empty locker—her clothes, body cream, underwear, and so on. Just as she finished and was about to take a nap, she heard a knock on her door. Thinking it was her roommate, she opened it, but to her surprise, it was the attendant from earlier. He handed her a note that was titled Rules in the School. The attendant said, "These are the rules you must obey, or you will serve detention." After handing her the note, he left.

Rose closed the door and began to read the rules:

Rule 1: Any instructions given by the teacher must be obeyed.

Rule 2: No chewing gum in class.

Rule 3: Respect your roommate.

As Rose read through the rules, she laughed, thinking, There aren't even that many rules here. She wondered, Who is this roommate I must respect? Is he a god? But she didn't dwell on it for long and turned off the light to sleep.

Meanwhile, Skylar, one of the richest kids at the school, had a scary side to him, but his best friend Alex wasn't afraid of him. Alex teased him, saying, "At least you've got a roommate, and it's a girl. Aren't you lucky? I heard she's so beautiful. I'm sure you won't mind sharing your spacious bed with her." Skylar didn't respond, as he was already used to Alex's teasing.
