Rhyland recalled a certain keepsake he had been forced to wear as a child back when he didn't have full control over his werewolf traits.


It was an ornate ring which was intricately decorated and known as the treasure of their clan, The Royals. As the previous heir apparent, it had been bestowed unto him to help control his Lycan characteristics. These characteristics tended to manifest themselves when a Lycan is excited or going through some strong emotion. And as children, this tended to occur quite frequently. 


Because of this, Lycan children were often separated from the general public and raised to attend a special academy together. Only Lycans were accepted into this academy. Here, they learned not only how to integrate into human society but also how to hone their unique abilities.
