Rhyland can hardly believe the words that came out of his mouth.

Damn. It must be the Rut talking. He knew that time of month was about to arrive. And it couldn't come at a more inopportune time. Dimitri was out on an assignment with the Council as per the man's sparse daily texts. So Rhyland only has himself to rely on to protect Aubrey. If Aubrey were a normal person, Rhyland wouldn't think twice to leave her alone for a few hours while he meets up with a female partner. There was a large were-community in Japan and he had several 'acquaintances' who had since moved here. But here where vampire activity is rampant, he deemed that it would be too much of a risk to do so. And this was supposed to be one of the safest countries in the world.

All this to say that it was up in the air what he would do for this month's Rut.
