"You are a prince." She looked at Kai, and her mouth was open.
"How about you close your mouth?" He said this as he pushed her mouth shut.
"You're surprised, aren't you? I, too, did not know."
"I have never met a prince. So, what kind of prince are you?" She said this, resting her hand on her jaw.
"I am a terrible prince. I murder people." You could hear the candle dripping as everything fell silent in an instant. Scarlett and Josephine were all staring at him as he sipped his drink.
"I'm kidding," he said, laughing. "Look at both of your faces."
"Don't make that joke," Josephine slapped him on the arm.
"You mentioned having a fiancee. Who exactly is she?" Scarlett inquired.
Kai drank and remained silent for a while before speaking.
"She is a childhood friend who liked me for a long time," he said. "She is someone I don't want to get married to. I can use anybody, but I don't want to use her," he sighs.
"You're not fond of her?"
"I don't. Everyone wants her to marry me, but I know she'll be unhappy. She is like... He went silent for a moment. " A younger sister I never had, always there for me, but getting married to her would damage our friendship."
As he sat down on the floor, he put his head on the couch.
"Why don't you call out the marriage?" Scarlett said.
"If I don't do this marriage, I won't be crowned king. I want to be the king because I have a lot of things I can't do as a prince."
"He has a lot of ambition and is quite dangerous. I don't know if I can trust him." Scarlett thought.
"What kingdom prince are you?" Josephine asked.
"Where will I sleep tonight?" Kai asked as he avoided the question.
"Oh, you can sleep here."
"Why should he sleep here?" Scarlett quickly gets defensive.
"Why can't he?" she said, confused. "I mean, I am the only one here. He can sleep on the couch. So I don't see the problem."
"Of course you don't see the problem. How can you allow a guy to sleep in the same house with you? Does that make sense in your ear?" Scarlett rolled her eyes.
"I know you might think I will do something to your sister, but I am not that kind of person. Even if your sister is pretty, I don't do something like that, so there is no need to worry." Kai said.
"Shut up. Does a predator announce they will do something?" She looked at Josephine. "You need to read books to learn more about the outside, so that way your brain will get sharp."
"Scarlett, I see nothing wrong. Isn't he a friend?"
Kai stands up and starts keeping the glass and the remaining alcohol in the kitchen. They keep arguing.
A few minutes later, he walked to the living room and still saw them arguing.
"If both of you are done arguing, tell me where I will sleep."
He went to the dining table to sit, and he laid his head on the table.
"Josephine, you need good awareness."
"Isn't he our friend?"
"Do you know him? Do you know what he does when he is a prince? Do you know what type of prince he is? Don't you find it weird that he avoids the question you ask him?" she whispered
"Well…."
Josephine looked outside and saw a golden bird. The golden bird was looking at her.
"Scarlett, did you see that?" she said as she pointed at the window.
"See what?" she turned
"Golden bird. Can you see it?"
Scarlett looked and saw nothing.
"I saw nothing. There is no golden bird."
Josephine continues, pointing at it.
"I saw nothing. Are you okay?"
"How can you not see it?"
"Kai," Scarlett called him.
He woke up.
"What?"
"Did you see a bird at the window?" Scarlett asked.
"What bird? I saw nothing." He returned his gaze to the kitchen table.
"Exactly. He saw nothing."
The golden bird screamed loudly. It was affecting Josephine. She felt a sharp pain in her ear and felt as if she were being stabbed there. She was holding her ear.
"AHHHHH,"
"What is it?" Scarlett holds her.
"Tell the bird to shut up. It is screaming loudly."
Scarlett still saw nothing.
"Kai, wake up."
"What is it again?"
When he heard Josephine's noise, he quickly went to her.
"What happened to her?" Kai asked
"I don't know."
The golden bird stopped screaming and left a note on the window.
It reads, "GET OUT OF HERE. YOU DON'T BELONG HERE,"
