Chapter 30: What are Specials?

The fight is over, Mr. J is dead and Ace is gone. Finally Christian and Teddy can relax. That's when Teddy falls down as his knees gave out because of his nerves. Whereas Christian fell straight down to the ground face front due to his injuries. Eve then alerted Harrison to rush over to Christian's side to make sure he's okay. Teddy is also trying to wake up Christian, but Christian passed out due to the loss of so much blood.

Eve eventually shows up. Harrison asks Teddy, "Where's the closest medical facility?"

Teddy thinks for a second, "On the other side of the city, but all the people have been evacuated."

Lt. Campos and Cpt. Jackson shows up with Colonel Johnston in their arms. "So this is the group that helped us."

Lt. Campos responds, "Yes sir."

Cpt. Jackson also asks, "Is he alright?"

Eve responds, "He's passed out but he's losing a lot of blood from the gunshot wounds."

Cpt. Jackson then says, "How did gunshot wounds damage him this much."

Colonel Johnston then steps in, "It's probably because his special abilities were deactivated." He says with a serious look on his face.

Lt. Campos asks, "How's that possible weren't they in the middle of a fight? Hey, boy was he in contact with any special dampening cuffs?"

Teddy doesn't look at her, "No..."

Everyone is surprised by this fact. That means Christian's special abilities were sealed without the use of special dampening cuffs.

Colonel Johnston then asks, "I had a feeling something was off, Teddy are you telling me there's technology out there that can seal our special abilities over a wide area?"

Teddy continues to look at only Christian after asked that serious question. Teddy hesitates and is noticeably conflicted about whether or not he should answer this question.

"Yes, that is correct." That is when someone appeared answering Colonel Johnston's question from behind him. Everyone turns around and sees none other than Elsa Gates herself.

Elsa Gates continues, "We can discuss this more later Colonel. For now, we should get this boy some treatment." Elsa Gates walks over towards Christian and Teddy.

"Well done my son." She then smiles at Teddy.

"The rest of you should also rest. It will take a few days for me to get everything running smoothly again and for the boy to heal. I'll answer any questions later." Then Elsa and Christian get transported to somewhere else in the city.

Lt. Campos looks at Colonel Johnston. "What do you want to do sir?"

Colonel Johnston sighs, "I guess we have no choice. We will rest up and then talk to Elsa Gates." Colonel Johnston then looks up over to Harrison, Teddy, and Eve. "What will you do?"

Harrison responds, "I guess basically the same thing until Christian is all better."

Colonel Johnston smiles, "Perfect, well while you are here priest. I want you to talk to Cpt. Jackson about what happened in the last city you and Christian were in. If you don't mind."

Harrison thinks for a second and then he shrugs his shoulders, "Sure it's not like it's a secrete."

The next day passes and everyone is resting up. Cpt. Jackson and Harrison have a discussion and Harrison tells Cpt. Jackson everything that happened in the city.

Cpt. Jackson after hearing his story replies, "I see. So you ended up just protecting Christian. Well, this does put us in a tough position. Considering Christian is undocumented."

Harrison responds, "True I do understand your position. However, keep in mind that if you attempt to capture him... I won't hold back." Harrison then gives Cpt. Jackson a serious stare.

Cpt. Jackson then laughs nervously, "Something tells me that fight wouldn't be ideal and also it would hurt my pride as a fellow human being." Cpt. Jackson thinks for a second, "Our duty dictates we would be obligated to take Christian in, however, I'm not going to lie. If it wasn't for you all showing up I don't know how we would've saved the Colonel."

Cpt. Jackson then looks up to the sky. "Listen priest this is what we will do. I'll tell the Colonel that there was a misunderstanding."

Harrison is surprised, "Why would you do that?"

Cpt. Jackson smiles, "It's simple because honestly, I don't care about my duty. The only reason I joined is because of Colonel Johnston. Nothing more, nothing less. Lt. Campos is the same way whether she wants to admit it or not. You all helped us save him and that's something I can't thank you enough of. Plus you lot aren't bad people I can tell."

Harrison smirks, "I see."

Cpt. Jackson continues, "Besides if the Colonel knew the truth he would be obligated to report it cause it's his duty. He has a goal that he wants to achieve no matter what, and I can't put him in a difficult situation like this." Cpt. Jackson then gets up and puts his hand on Harrison's shoulders.

"If anything happens I will take all the blame." Then Cpt. Jackson leaves.

Harrison thinks to himself at that moment, "Cpt. Jackson huh. A very interesting guy..."

Two more days have passed. Elsa Gates is back in charge and the city is beginning to function smoothly again. All the thugs in the city were either arrested or exiled from the city. All the supporters of Mr. J were put on trial and investigated. While Christian and everyone else spent the next three days resting their injuries.

Christian is eventually all healed up and is ready to go. Due to the advanced technology that Elsa Gates possessed, she was able to heal Christian's injuries faster than expected.

Elsa Gates looks over Christian as he is stretching in his hospital room. She is holding a clipboard looking at his diagnostic, "How are you feeling Christian?"

Christain finishes up his stretching and responds, "I'm feeling good. My body seems to be 100%."

Christian then starts stretching his body and testing his electricity to see if everything is running smoothly.

Before Christian prepares to leave his room Elsa Gates asks Christian a question, "Christain I have a question for you?"

Christian looks over towards Elsa Gates, "What is it?

Elsa Gates responds, "What type of special are you?"

After Elsa Gates asked this question Christian was beyond confused, "What does that even mean?"

Elsa Gates looks disappointed realizing he doesn't know, so she decides to explain it to him.

"This is important information Christian, Specials are a unique type of human that is affected by a genetic mutation called the S-Strand. This mutation gives certain human beings special abilities beyond normal human capabilities. You've seen it yourself."

Christian listens attentively but is still confused. Then Teddy walks in and hears Elsa Gates describing what specials are to Chrisitan.

Elsa Gates greets Teddy, "Welcome son. I'm just trying to educate your friend here."

Teddy just gives Christian a condescending look, "Good luck mother. He's an idiot."

Chrisitan responds at the insult, "HEY!"

Then Christian and Teddy start fighting. Elsa Gates closes her eyes and then clears her throat stopping the fighting immediately. She then continues.

"Now the number of special abilities are numerous in the world, so we tried to figure out a way to categorize them. First is the three original clans. These three clans are the Lee Clan, the Legas Clan, and the Laichi Clan. These clans were thought to be the original specials and many people you may meet could be descendants of one of these clans. Descendants of course being people who possess some abilities from the main clan, but not all of them. Each clan has something that defines its people: The Lee Clan is known for the Power of Body, the Legas Clan is known for the Power of Mind and the Laichi is known for Power of Spirit. Any special you meet that falls under one of these properties are most like descendants from one of these clans. For example, the lieutenant her special ability gives her special eyesight meaning she is most likely a descendant of the Lee Clan, but most likely not part of the main family."

Christian raises his hand.

Elsa Gates looks at him, "Yes?"

"What do you mean by the Power of Spirit?"

Elsa Gates smirks, "Good question, think of spirit as energy. More or less the Laichi clan can affect the energy of the universe."

Teddy smiles at Christian, "Pretty cool huh."

Christian smiles back, "yeah sure is."

Elsa Gates continues, "Now we have discovered there are specials that don't fall under the three clans. So far we categorize them as Elementals: people who can affect things in the natural world, Mutants: people who can mutate their body, or probably the most dangerous Triggers: people who can affect anyone or anything in exchange for a trigger. In fact, from what the priest said you encountered one before, I believed his name was Captain Ryon. Triggers can be dangerous because of how tricky their abilities can be, but once you find out their triggers they are much easier to deal with. Now Christian with all that I told you I'll be honest there's still much we don't know. So you may encounter a special one day that doesn't fall under any of these categories and how you deal with them is up to you. Understand."

Christain shakes his head in agreement.

Elsa Gates is pleased, "Good, now which one do you believe you fall under?"

Christian thinks for a second, "Wouldn't I be an elemental then?"

Elsa Gates is impressed, "Well done, considering your abilities it would make the most sense if you are an elemental. However, there's one thing about the elementals you need to know. Elementals can control elements but they can't create them. The only elementals that can create the element itself are known as prime elementals. These are the users of fire, wind, earth, and water. Also, only one prime elemental can exist per that element meaning only one fire elemental exists in the entire world."

Christian then thinks about Colonel Johnston, "So you're saying Colonel Johnston is pretty special huh."

Elsa Gates responds, "You could say that. Now I ask you again. What type of special do you think you are?"

Christian thinks more, "Probably still an elemental I guess."

Elsa Gates walks closer to Christian and stares at him for a second. Then she closes her eyes and then smiles. "That's correct I'm glad you're sure of yourself Christian."

Christian smiles put his thumb up and then leaves with Teddy.

Elsa Gates then thinks to herself, "It seems that boy does not know what he is."
