Chapter 36: MYTH

Christian thinking to himself that Lightning Goddess is a badass name asks enthusiastically why she is called this.

Madeline stares at Harrison once more realizing he hasn't told them anything. Harrison looks away pretending not to see her gaze. She sighs, "Harrison hasn't told you guys anything huh."

Christian, Eve, and Teddy all shake their head no. 

"Did he at least tell you why he's known as the Wandering Priest?"

Again the three of them all shake their head no. 

Teddy thinks to himself, "Are we really about to learn about MYTH now?"

Harrison is also thinking to himself, "Oh damn I completely forgot about Madeline's big mouth, I guess that one day might be today then."

Madeline looks over to Harrison and gets up in a confident stance, "I see, well that's not my story to tell but I will let you kids know why I'm known as the Lightning Goddess."

Harrison sighs in relief

"A long time ago when I was a bit older than you kids now. I was on my own for a chunk of my life, fending for myself and fighting on my own. I did have a friend, one friend, who was always there for me. We both strived to get stronger and survive in this hectic world. As we grew, both of us continued to get stronger and stronger. As time went by we both were honing our abilities, our mind, and our bodies. She would end up joining the Navy while I preferred to do things my own way and I was eventually recruited by an organization known as MYTH."

Christian has no idea what MYTH is and Eve asks if they are talking outrageous stories.

Madeline replies to both of them, "This type of MYTH is different. It stands for Military Youth Target Hunters. They're a group of bounty hunters bred by the military themselves to destroy specific targets discreetly. That's actually where I met Harrison."

Both Christian and Eve were very surprised.

Harrison didn't say anything.

Eve speaks up, "I didn't know such an organization existed."

Madeline grabbed Eve around the shoulders, "Well I'm not surprised kiddo it's a secret organization of the World Government. Only a few top officials know about its existence. Also, they are bred at a very young age."

Eve looks up at Madeline, "Why's that?"

Harrison finally pitches in himself, "To control them better."

There was a bit of silence and then Madeline continued.

"He's right. Most people who end up a part of MYTH DIE. The few that survive like myself and Harrison are forced to leave the organization at a certain age and are either eliminated in the future or given special privileges."

At this moment Eve and Christian looked a bit sad and then Teddy states, "So I'm guessing you and the boss here were given those privileges."

Madeline sits down, "You could say that... Most people aren't given any special privileges. However, I was lucky, fortunately for me the friend I grew up with helped spare my life, but I'm not allowed to leave this village and I'm under constant surveillance."

Eve still looking sad says, "Such a caged way to live."

Madeline smiles and starts drinking again, "Maybe so kiddies, but I've never been happier, to be honest." Then she starts busting out laughing.

Teddy asks, "What about Mr. Harrison? Are you destined to die or do you have special privileges?"

Christian and Eve were looking at Harrison in worry.

Harrison sighs a bit, "My situation is a bit different it's not that I have any special privileges, it's just that they haven't been able to kill me yet."

That's when Christian stood straight up, "Wait, are you saying... this MYTH organization is still after you?"

Harrison being nonchalant about it answers, "Probably."

Christian yells in frustration, "WHAT THE HELL, WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME!"

Harrison nonchalantly responds, "It's not something to worry about."

Christian getting even more frustrated screams even louder, "SCREW THAT, I WON'T LET YOU DIE, YOU HEAR ME!"

Harrison proudly responds, "Loud and clear."

Christian sits back down with a smug look on his face, "Good. By the way, we still don't know why you are called the Lightning Goddess."

Madeline realized he was right, "Oh right. HAHAHA! It's just a codename we are all given one while in MYTH."

Christian expecting something more shouts, "THAT'S IT!"

Madeline takes another sip, "Yup. Oh, and I'm the strongest lightning elemental in the entire world." Madeline smirks.

Christian's eyes opened up wide.

After everyone finishes their stories and finishes eating. Madeline asks a question.

"So now the fun is all over, what brings you here Harrison?"

Harrison puts down his tea and looks at Madeline, "I want you to help Christian?"

Madeline hears what he said, but she's squinting and a bit wobbly with a beer in her hands, "What do you mean, he seems fine to me." She puts her arm around Christian and starts poking his face.

Harrison sighs and thinks to himself, "She's already drunk." Then he takes the beer out of her hand and says, "There's nothing wrong with him, I just want you to help him control his special ability."

Madeline a bit irritated he took her beer says with a very overexaggerated tone, "Ohhhh."

Harrison then says as he puts her beer down somewhere, "It's easier for you to understand if you see him firsthand."

Madeline slowly gets up and with a loud shout, "ALRIGHT!!! COME WITH ME CHRISTIAN!" She grabs Christain and goes outside.

Eve and Teddy are sitting there finishing up their meals. Teddy then asks, "So what are we going to do?"

Harrison tells Teddy, "We will stay in the village for a while. If I were both of you I would start getting to know the villagers."

Madeline brings Christain to an open field behind her house that looks like it was meant for training. Madeline starts stretching and while she's stretching she tells Christian, "Show me what you got, kid."

Christian with a cocky smile tells Madeline, "Alright don't get hurt."

Christian powers up and lightning starts surrounding his body

Madeline looks at him and seems slightly intrigued.

Harrison shows up to watch the training and tells Christian, "Christian keep powering up, don't stop."

Christian looks at him and says, "Fine." He continues powering up his body and the lightning becomes more fierce to the point it starts affecting the weather.

Madeline becomes more and more surprised, "Harrison... you found quite the interesting one here."

Harrison chuckles, "Well he's going to be the future king of course."

Madeline thinks to herself, "The amount of lightning he's building up is ridiculous, it's like his power is endless. But what's even more surprising is the fact he is affecting the weather itself. Matter of fact I can feel him pulling on the lightning I possess too. Very, very interesting kid." She then states out loud to Christian, "You surprise me, Christian."

Christian with a smirk on his face, "You scared yet?"

Madeline smiles, "Yeah, I'm scared. A power like yours is terrifying. However, you are wasting it." She holds out her hand. From the sky, a staff appears out of nowhere flying straight towards her and gently arriving into her hands. She then points this staff directly at Christian. "You are wasting way too much energy." She then fires a lightning strike at Christian completely knocking him out without any effort.

Christian lies on the floor knocked out unconscious. Harrison proceeds to walk over to Christian with Madeline following behind. Harrison asks, "So what do you think?"

Madeline chuckles, "This should be fun."

A day has passed and Christian finally wakes up from being unconscious.

As Christian gets up he holds his head in pain, "Ow my head, where am I?"

Right next to Christian is Eve sitting there since she knew Christian would want some answers when he woke up, "You're in Miss Madeline's house resting."

Christian still a bit groggy replies, "Madel...inee... WAIT! Wasn't I just fighting her?" 

Eve then tells him everything that has happened.

Christian became irritated, "WHAT?!?!?!? Where is she I want a rematch!"

Eve tells Christian where Madeline is. He then got up immediately, thanked Eve, and ran outside. 

Eve chuckles to herself, "As energetic as ever."

Christian sprints full speed towards the river running through the middle of the village. Once he arrives he starts yelling at the villagers asking about Madeline.

He asks every person he meets but no one is responding to him because of his overzealousness. One kid around the age of 8 sees him and asks him a question.

 "Are you looking for Miss Madeline?"

Christian sees the kid and runs up to him, "YEAH! Do you know where she is kid?"

The kid looks at him and replies, "Maybe? What do you want with her?:

Christian with an excited look on his face states, "To fight her of course!"

The kid then became visibly upset, "Is that so? Then I won't allow you to meet her..."

Christian was very confused.

The kid then puts his hand up and all of a sudden two huge water dragons come out of the river and charge directly at Christian. Christian was knocked back far and was completely soaked because of it.

Christian eventually started getting back up, "What the hell...." Christian then starts powering up himself, "You want to fight kid... I won't hold back then."

Christian charges toward the kid and the kid gets ready to be attacked. All of a sudden Madeline shows up hitting both of them on their heads. 

Christian starts rubbing his head in pain, "Ouch, dammit what was that for, you old hag?"

Madeline then kicks Christian across the village.

Madeline then turns towards the kid, "What are you doing Jimmy?"

Jimmy rubs his head as well, "Sorry mam, he said he wanted to fight you."

Madeline smiles and starts patting him on the head, "I see, don't worry about it. That brainless idiot starting today will be your brother-disciple."

Jimmy then with a huge shock on his face yells out, "WHAT!!!"
