CHAPTER 31

There was a knock on the door and the person inside allow him inside,

"Sir this is the information you asked about,"

"Thanks you may leave," Luke took the file placed on his table and opened it and almost vomited blood.

Sage opened her door and they walked in,

"Explain," She didn't even give Khalil the chance to breath.

"I met this guy on a dating app back in my middle school and we were so close," He tried to force his tears back which were hard to do. "We started as friends but later found that we liked each other… we met on holidays and went on picnics." Sage sat opposite him and listened to him.

"He was the first one to admit that he liked guys, and that's also how I knew that I liked boys too," He wiped his tears. Sage poured him a glass of water and passed it to him, he took a sip,

"There was this party that his friend hosted and he invited me to join him… but you obviously know how my parents are, they couldn't allow me to go to parties so I never went and he got mad at me," Sage opened the drawer took Sally's wine and poured them a drink.

Everything was soo hard to remain sober. They stayed quiet for some time; because Khalil was in soo much pain and she knew that there was more to the story.

"We don't have to continue if it's too hard for you to open up," She rubbed his arm. "I'll always be here for you okay?" Khalil hugged her.

"Thank you so much, I was soo mean to you before and here we are,"

"You don't have to worry about that, you'll still pay for what you said," Sage joked and they laughed lightening the mood.

In Sage's room Khalil slept peacefully and forgot how the day was shitty. Sage was busy in the basement trying to find something and came across a rusty key hanged on the wall; next to it was a spade and that meant something.

She ran across the house to the small backyard that her mom never talked about and she was busy with school to look at it. The place was pretty abandoned and some of the things were broken and rusty.

She walked around carrying the key and the spade with her looking for a clue, her phone interrupted her research,

"Hello Uncle Luke, did you find something?" She walked still searching. Luke on the other side tried to talk because of his anger.

"Well, I don't think we can talk about it in the phone we have to meet," He hanged up leaving her no choice but to abort the mission.

In the famous restaurant, Sage sat opposite Luke and looked at the papers that he threw on the table.

"I can't believe it," Sage looked at the papers in shock. "Wow, you've stayed with her all this years and never noticed any thing," She laughed not mocking him but shocked.

No mother can abandon their child unless it's not hers, "I'm I really her daughter," she asked more to herself. Luke stood up to leave,

"Uncle, don't do something until we justify all this," Luke nodded and left. Sage looked at him and signed it was really sad to be betrayed by someone you loved.

Luke opened his car and drove to certain place, this was his favourite place that they went together, were they first met and how she was soo polite to him despite his arrogance.

He sat at the swing that she would sit crying to vent her anger away, She was such a sweet girl…
