Chapter 31: Mordic

“Come on,” Cecilia said, pulling Detrick after her to find the dragon..

When they turned around the massive pile of treasure, they both slowed. The dragon was gone. Cecilia and Detrick looked around the cavern, searching for their new friend.

Outside the halo of light given off by the speck of glowing dust, they couldn’t see anything.

“Did it fly off?” Detrick asked, attempting to slide the sword into the scabbard they had taken. Surprisingly, the blade slid home as if the baldric had been custom made for it.

“This works out,” the sword said. “I can still feel you even though you’re not gripping the blade.”

“Yeah, I can feel you too,” Detrick said, happily surprised.

Cecilia looked up at him, smiling. Then she turned to the items she held in her left hand, looking them over.

Strapping the sword to his back, he thought he heard a sound suddenly. Tilting his head, he waited to hear it again as he secured the buckle at his chest.
