24 Random Act of Kindness 4

At the Eagles City University.

Prof. Gil Wood, the only lecturer who was privileged to know that Jeff was the grandson of the mysterious chairman of the Cherry Fields Oil and Gas Group, was hysterical when he saw the news of the attacked helicopter. Although, he may not have an idea of the details, but he felt that it was a concern to Jeff, and it became a concern to him too. His blood temperature shot up the next day when he did not see him in school.

“This is unlike him to boycott lectures.”

He concluded when he got to his hall for lectures. The second day, before he walked into the lecture hall, he prayed silently and wished to see him seated quietly on his seat. To his displeasure, he was not.

“What is the meaning of this, please?” he mumbled. Although, the news had it that there was no death, but he could not imagine that his young friend was in pains somewhere. He could feel and imagine his condition and wish to share in his grief.

At the Vice Chancellor's Office.

As the case may be, the only channel of communication between the university and the Cherry Fields Oil and Gas Group was Jeff, but the last response they got from the organization was on the first day of resumption when Phina, the ex-student of the school impersonated the daughter of the mysterious chairman. Meanwhile, their messages of felicitation and appointment only received automated response.

“What do you suggest that we do, Prof. Campbell? Since our messages are not getting the desired response," the Vice Chancellor asked the Chairman of the University Governing Board.

“We are left with no choice but to hold a press conference and commiserate with them over the unfortunate incident.”

“I strongly agree with you, Prof. When do you think that we should have that?”

The Vice Chancellor would have taken his decision without involving him, but he was aware that he was not in his good book. He preferred the former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Philip Miller, who Jeff and Leon were instrumental in his dethronement.

“I recommend we have it today. The government paid their tribute yesterday. If we do the same today, I don't think it is a bad idea.”

“You are right, Prof. I will get my secretary to organize that straight away.”

“Okay.”

Now, Prof. Gil Wood had returned to his office after he hastily left Jeff's lecture hall, which evoked nostalgia. He was trying to figure out how to reach him when he got a notification from the Vice Chairman's Secretary informing him of the Press Conference that would come up by 2 Pm.

“How I wished we would pay a visit to the complex," he murmured. At 2 Pm, the senior staff members and the members of the Governing Board were assembled at the University Conference Hall.

At the Surgical Center

The youngsters were having a good time with the doctor. Now, Leon was relieved as they logged in to their online game. Incidentally, the Medical Student was good at it and was delighted to meet new friends. Leon felt that Jeff was merely taking his rest and would join them soon. Meanwhile, Jeff could feel their presence and hear their conversations. The only difference was the ability to respond.

At lunch, the youngsters were lost in the bliss of the moment that they could not recognize that they were starving.

“Ryan.”

Mrs. Amelia Grayson called out when she returned to the surgical center with Mrs. Israel and Madam Jessica with the lunch.

“Yes, mom.”

Ryan answered as he looked up from his device and beheld his mom.

“We brought lunch.”

“Wow! That is good.”

Ironically, the three patients in the hospital, who brought about their visits, had not eaten the food for once, but many people had benefitted from their presence. Instantly, the youngsters excused themselves and joined their parents at the reception. Meanwhile, Jennifer Girard tagged along.

Now, the shy janitor who had been waiting impatiently for their arrival was displaced. Then, she walked up to the group to render her services, but she had been destabilized. There were many hands to assist on that day. The four youngsters were happy to be of assistance. After distributing the food to the wards and offices, they returned to Jeff's ward to have their lunch and continued with their chit-chat and laughter. In the evening, after they had checked Prof. George Green, they returned home happy and fulfilled.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Israel noticed the disappointment on the face of the shy janitor when Adline handed her pack of food to her and dismissed her.

“Thank you dear. You can take a break. We have enough hands today.”

“Thank you ma'am," She appreciated and walked away.

“Come, my dear," Dora called her back. Then, she walked up to her and greeted.

“A good day to you, ma'am.”

“A good day to you, dear. Wait a minute.”

Dora greeted and instructed. Then she faced Adline and instructed.

“Give her that flask, Adline.”

“All right, Mrs. Israel.”

The janitor smiled shyly, and Adline brought out a stainless-steel food flask from one of the bags and handed it over to the janitor. She looked at her cheerful face, and smiled too.

“Thank you, ma'am," she greeted before facing Mrs. Israel and her mother-in-law.

“I am honored to have attracted your attention.”

“You are welcomed.”

Madam Jessica and Dora responded cheerfully. Now, the janitor was not aware of their mission in the surgical center, but she prayed secretly that they should not stop coming.

Afterward, they walked to Dr. Williams’ office for an update. He gave them the list of the patients and the total sum required for their treatment, just the way Dr. Milestone handed it to him.

“Thank you doctor. We will revert.” Dora reassured as she attempted to collect the list. Then, her mother-in-law corrected.

“Get the total sum and leave the list with him. We don't need the list.”

“All right, mom.”.
