Chapter 0- The beginning

[19 years ago, something appeared in this world. People thought that this thing was going to cause the extermination of humanity.

Dungeons.

Dungeons were believed to be the reason to the extinction of humanity. But we came back stronger than ever ready to go against these atrocities!

Even if I still wanted to hear what this "great researcher" had to say about hunters, I decided to listen to my mom and prepare my things.

I never really understood why people worshipped hunters so much. They only care about money and power, that's all. No matter how much people like them, it doesn't change things…

I silently grab my lunch while passing my mother who had an annoyed expression on her face.

I get into the car and my mom starts driving.

[COLLEGE ARI. GRADE E SCHOOL]

We soon get to school. Honestly there's nothing to really say about it. Just a random grade E school filled with awakeners who where either too weak to become hunters or just didn't wanna.

…and I'm also one of them.

I say goodbye to my mother and my brother does as such.

While walking, I realize that my brother isn't in a hurry like he was at home.

"Weren't you supposed to have a meeting with some teacher or friends, if you actually have some, or whatever??"

"YES, I do have friends and I just lied so that you could hurry up given how you're always so slow in the morning."

"You-"

I barely have time to answer as we enter the school.

It didn't really change since last year and the same annoying teachers are still there.

I sigh and decide I should get to class before my mom appears out of nowhere and drags me there.

When I get to class I notice a familiar face.

"What's up Emy!"

"Yo Jin-hu."

My best friend. I still can't believe I've know this dude for 19 years now… basically known him to my whole life.

"Do you know which teacher we have this year?"

"I don't really know" I answer, "probably the same as last year or something."

"It's the one from last year."

I look behind me and I see sitting there…my brother.

"Literally, how are you everywhere?"

"Just open your eyes and look around sis."

I look around and awkwardly realizes that everyone is staring at me and Jin-hu since we were the only one talking…

…and the teacher was already there.

*Cough *cough.

"Now I'll ask you youngsters to sit down and stop talking please."

Me and my friend rapidly put ourselves in an "good student" like position and look at the teacher.

"So, my name is Luca Rossi, but I'll ask all of you to call me Mister Rossi. I'm the same teacher as last year as a lot of you know."

He quickly stares at me. I nod in comprehension.

"Like every year, I need to talk about safety measures regarding you guys and dungeons."

Here we go… the same speech as every single year.

"This is a GRADE E SCHOOL which means that all of the students in this school are either grade E or grade D awakened people. Because of this there are a set of rules that we all must respect."

-"Firstly, never engage in any fight with a hunter higher your grade."

-"Secondly, only join in a dungeon rade if ABSOLUTELY necessary."

and

-"Thirdly, NEVER under ANY circumstances get involved with other activities regarding the other grade E, D, C, B or A schools."

Then, Jin-hu raises his hand.

"I have a question mister, why are there no grade S schools?"

The teacher gives a weird expression and then answers the question.

"Because grade S awakeners are WAY too powerful. Every single one of them choose to be a hunter…"

"Mister I have another question!"

A girl in the class raises her hand.

"I will ask you to raise your hand before asking a question, but I'll let it go this time so what is it?"

"Can I… get your number?"

*coughs*

"Well, now let us start the lesson."

I rapidly start to fall asleep.

I start to walk home with Jin-hu.

"Ems- where's Arthur? Doesn't he usually walk with you home?"

"He stays studying after school."
