19) Skill Rework

A day after I destroyed one of Poison Fang's Delta bases everyone heard a voice say " Have you been enjoying your overpowered elemental skills because we are going to nerf them all? You see after we saw someone destroy a small guild base single-handedly we decided to completely rework the elemental skills. "

" Now there will be no rarities of elemental cores but they are ranked based on stars, five stars being the highest and 1 star being the lowest. All of your elemental skills will be converted to star points. All common skills give 2-star points and all rare skills give 3-star points etc., you can gain a random 1-star skill by using 1-star point. You have a five per cent chance to gain a 1-star point every time you consume an elemental core."

"You cannot try to roll for a higher star skill if you didn't have it. For example, if you had a rare rank elemental skill you can only roll up to 3-star random skills. Oh and You can choose which element you want to spend your star points on if you have more than one element " Said the voice.

I have 4 common rank skills which are flame wall, flame infusion, fireball and shadow portal along with 1 rare rank skill flame weapon. So I have a total of 11-star points. I can role up to 3-star random skills. Now the question is which element do I role for? I gained an achievement after I destroyed the Poison Fang's delta base which I didn't take a look at.

The name of that achievement was called one man army. Its features were that I can permanently choose to upgrade any one of my elements once as long as I have this achievement. Flame element is a common element so instead of upgrading that I upgraded my shadow element. I heard a voice say "Congratulations your shadow element has evolved into a dark element. "

First I used 6-star points to gain two 3-star skills from the dark element and the flame element respectively. I gained a skill called Shadow spikes which cover my entire body in spikes. I can move my body or throw the spikes in my body at my target. Once they have been hit by the spikes the spikes will sink into their body and will start consuming the target's flesh until the target gets rid of the spikes. The longer the spike stays on the target's body more will be the damage dealt.

I also gained a flame elemental skill called Burst Wheel. This skill allows me to draw two wheels made of flames using my hand. I can then push the wheels in any direction which deals 300 per cent of my intelligence stat and the target has an 80 per cent chance to get burned.

I still have 5 more star points left. I have a skill which can defend against physical attacks but it has no use against magic attacks. I could just throw those spikes and turn defence into offence but if they have high agility it's useless. My Burst wheel skill is even worse as it takes time to draw a circle and I have to hit the target to deal damage too.

I used 4 points on 2-star skills for both of my elements. I gained a flame elemental skill called Bird's cry which lets me forth a bird made of fire which unleashes a cry or scream of sorts of fiery attacks towards a target. I gained a dark elemental skill called Viper Lock which is A spell causing a snake-like tattoo/symbol to appear on the target's body and mobilize around it. The snake symbol winds its way around the target's body, restricting their movements and rendering them immobilized. This spell only lasts for 3 minutes assuming the target has no defensive elemental spells.

I saved my last star point thinking I can just farm the flame cores and absorb them for infinite star points but I couldn't have been more wrong
