I gently pushed open the door to the suite, guiding Kuroko in before us. The room was softly lit, and Sera and Lila looked up in surprise as we entered. Their eyes immediately went to Kuroko, their brows furrowing in surprise and slight suspicion.
"Girls," I began, my voice cutting through the tension in the room, "Meet our newest team member, Kuroko."
Sera's eyes narrowed at the cat beastkind. "So, this is the infamous thief?" she said, her voice a mix of wariness and curiosity. Lila, on the other hand, offered a polite bow in Kuroko's direction, a soft smile on her face.
"Nice to meet you, Kuroko," Lila said, her voice soft and welcoming. "Welcome to the team."
Kuroko grinned, her tail swishing behind her. "Thanks for the warm welcome," she said, her tone dripping with sarcasm. She locked eyes with Sera, her grin widening. "I'm sure we'll get along just fine."
"Mind if I take a loot at your stats?" I asked, as I fished out my small crystal orb from my coat.
"Do I have a choice?" Kuroko said sarcastically.
"No." I said, as I activated the crystal orb and began the scan on Kuroko.
Strength: 35,000 Speed: 55,000 Stamina: 50,000 Mana: 30,000 Magic: 20,000 Health: 40,000 Defense: 25,000 Accuracy: 55,000 Agility: 60,000 Magic resistance: 30,000
Overall Power: 40,000
I lowered the orb, looking back at Kuroko who watched me curiously. She was indeed a B tier, but her stats were interesting. Her speed, agility, and accuracy were high, which wasn't surprising considering her occupation. Her strength, stamina, and health were also quite good, reflecting her tenacity and survival instincts. However, her magic and mana were fairly low, suggesting she wasn't a magic-oriented person.
"What level are you Chang?" she raised a brow.
I quickly adjusted my limiter to D tier.
"Well, see for yourself." I smiled.
Kuroko then looked at me through the crystal orb, curiosity sparkling in her eyes.
A moment later she lowered her crystal orb.
"Wow, you weren't kidding when you said you were a noob," she commented, her tone a mixture of surprise dipped with a little disbelief.
"Don't listen to him, he's lying. He just likes to pretend as a noob." Sera scoffed.
"Oh, Sera, your lack of faith in me is hurtful." I said, feigning disappointment, my hand over my heart as if I had been wounded. "I'm just a humble adventurer trying to improve. But it's good to know that you think so highly of me."
Sera huffed and crossed her arms, looking away. "I didn't say I think highly of you, I just... I just know you're not as weak as you pretend to be, that's all."
I chuckled, shaking my head at her. "You're a tough one to crack, Sera. But you'll see, one day I'll prove to you I can be just as great as you think I am."
Sera snorted, but didn't say anything else, which was a small victory in itself. Meanwhile, Kuroko was looking between us with an amused grin on her face, clearly enjoying the exchange.
Q: What would you do if you know someone pretending to be a noob?
