In "The Shadow Oath", a disgraced samurai named Kazuki, falsely condemned to die, is graced by a deity of darkness named "Tsukuyomi" with enigmatic shadow magic. Tormented by his wrongful banishment, Kazuki begins a journey to right the wrongs committed against him. His quest is not solo, as he crosses paths with Shôkin Kagiri, a seasoned bounty hunter who guides him to channel his shadow magic for justice, rather than revenge.
Meanwhile, Kuroyama the Advisor, manipulates the young Shogunate from the shadows, ruling with fear and brutal force. His control is further solidified by his loyal subordinates from the Minamotos clan, warriors each possessing unique, deadly magic abilities gifted by the gods.
"The Shadow Oath" is an epic tale of redemption and revenge set in a world brimming with magic and political intrigue. This thrilling narrative unfolds as Kazuki, fights to regain his lost honor and reshape his destiny.
Shameless review from the author himself what????? yes i know but hear me out this may sound troupe at first but if you give my story a try might see the appeal of this re-imagining of the Edo period with deity's giving a portion of their divine magic to certain people type of story. However the appeal of the novel to be honest is the main character and how he deals with so much despair and how he overcomes it. Also how he ends up eventually getting out from the circle of hate and revenge. The main character Kazuki a man with no ties to family or friends ( murder happening left and right and even when he tries to find peace and follow his master teaching and keeping his honor ( Its just so hard ) Just to explain how to read my novel Guide : Novel is divide in parts for each title Ex: Outcast and the shadow deity Part 1 / 2 / 3 is actually chapter 1 of my story. Hope its not confusing,
Hey everyone, ToshiroOne here! Just wanted to drop in and share some exciting news about my latest work, "Sinbounds." It's a sci-fi novel that I'm really passionate about, featuring a powerful protagonist with a complex moral compass that I think you'll find intriguing. I believe it's a story that many of you would really get into, and if it captures your interest, I'd be over the moon if you could add it to your collection and share your thoughts. Please check my Original Works to find my new book
It’s been a while I’ve given a book 5 stars😅 that says a lot. But onto the review! I love how nicely your writing style and use of grammar complements your mc’s persona so well. Often times, it can be hard to deliver emotions properly when writing in third-person pov, but you personalized it so well, that Kazuki’s voice as a character shone through perfectly! It was wasy to delve into the story and get sucked in, feeling things as he did. The only advice I’d give though, is that maybe you could emphasize more on Kazuki’s feelings about the betrayal he suffered. Like the other side of the revenge he’s fueled by. The hurt. The people who betrayed him must have been people he once trusted, so maybe show a bit about the hurt he feels about that. I feel like that’ll invoke even more sympathy and mutual anger in your readers! All in all, this was a fantastic read!
This is my first time reading an actual novel on this app, and I have to say it has been a great experience so far. Let me begin listing my thoughts: Writing Quality: 5 Stars. The descriptions are vivid and well-written, without being overly informative or relying on excessive info-dumping. Punctuation and grammar mistakes are not present. Updating Stability: 5 Stars. Although I have recently started reading this, I don't find the updating schedule to be bad at all. Creating a world from scratch with unique characters and constantly building upon it is a difficult task, and I have great respect for it. Therefore, it would make sense if the updating schedule was occasionally irregular. Story Development: 5 Stars. I personally find the story very interesting. People's opinions may differ, and I'm not sure how others would respond to the developments, but I highly recommend giving this novel a try, even though the subject matter may seem clichéd. Character Design: 5 Stars. The main character, in my opinion, is very well-crafted. He is portrayed as intelligent, honorable, loyal, strong, and possesses qualities of an anti-hero. Writing Background: 5 Stars. As I mentioned before, novel writers who can create story settings and power systems rom scratch or draw inspiration and make it work deserve an immediate 5-star rating from me. Overall, I give this novel a 5/5 review. Everyone has different opinions, so there may be people who disagree.
After I read a couple of chapters in this book, I must say that the storytelling and plot are quite refreshing for this platform. The narrative is good and detailed. However, as I said, A full plot setting in Edo period Japan is quite a niche for web novel platforms and might be hard to attract the readers. still, I hope your work gets more attention that you deserve, and keep up the good work
First of all, how is it so relatable when it's not even me there? Second of all the descriptive language is just chef's kiss and it's not perfect, it's way beyond it. Sometimes I get chills while imagining the scene and the way you handled your main character Kazuki is brilliant. He is extremely relatable not extremely evil nor extremely good, he is like a normal person craving for vengeance. Also, my favorite magic is shadows and darkness while I also like samurai so I can safely say I loved it. There is also a nice blend of history and fantasy which doesn't overlap each other.
Highly recommended, writing is 10/10, plotline is intresting 10/10, story development is steady, not too fast not to slow 10/10, overall an amazing book!
I’ve never read a book about the Edo period and I’m enjoying learning
Sekiro, Shadows Die Thrice ) This deserves a rare 5 stars from me. Stability would normally be lower, but if it comes at a cost of your spectacullar writing, I'd rather wait. I couldn't bring myself to nitpick anything in particular. The pacing was a bit on the lower end, with one fight stretching multiple chapters, but that's a style in of itself. I loved it, Look forward to 100 chapters so I can binge. Good luck.
From where I can tell for the chapters that I have read, this is a pretty good story. The first three parts/ chapters are a good way to set up the story. Although some parts brought out confusion, it is overall a good story. It did seem as if it was going to lose its way in the next 3 parts, but perhaps there is some plan for the story's trajectory. It is written rather well for the most part. The main character is engaging in the first three chapters, so hopefully, things will only go up from there. I will continue reading and reply a second review once that is completed.
To begin, let me point out that you better bring your dictionary beside you. The author definitely pulled all the stops with his/her grand vocabulary! Well, jokes aside, it was a very engaging read from the first few chapters! Nice work, Author❤️
Of all novels I've read, the first chapter of this novel is the best! It's cool!!! I may look a bit biased cause I like japanese culture but why don't you read this novel and see if I'm wrong or not? I also like how the mc and the story develops. Overall, this is a good read!
we finally made it to the second volume of the Shadow Oath im super glad everyone enjoy it. please do not forget to toss me a power stone so we can grow. :)
Very interesting first chapter, I love the premise and idea. The writing is superb overall only some small things that I don’t like but very much recommend to read!
You deserve 5-star reviews! I'm not exaggerating because it's real! Your novel has good potential :) The way your story flows is written well! The descriptions are like a chef's kiss🤌✨ Keep up the good work!
I love books that are about samurais but hate the ones with systems.I will not let my preference influence my review . This book is well written and the plot is interesting.I like the descriptions and how you portray the character. So all I can say is that you, dear author, deserve a 5 star review for the work you put in this amazing novel!
