Chapter 27: What Do You Want?

“I’m perfectly capable of being on my own,” I insisted.

“You almost dying while being on your own is a huge contradiction to that statement,” Ezra countered calmly.

I rolled my eyes and glared at the needle still stuck in my arm. Meredith had administered the first dose of the antidote two days ago, and I’d finally been allowed to sleep. She’d come back with two more bags of the stuff since then. This was the last one before I was allowed to leave.

Asides from feeling sore, I felt fine, but Valen had insisted I not be left alone.

While I was happy that he seemed to care about me more than he had at first, I didn't like the fact that he was so upset about this. He wasn’t taking this situation well at all. And he hadn’t taken too kindly when I’d suggested he not bother pursuing his investigation…

Lucas arrived sometime last night with an update. I had woken up to catch part of their conversation. I laid still with my eyes closed so they wouldn't realize I was awake.
