Chapter 36: An Empty Bed

"That should be him right now," my father said, nodding to the office door.

I spun around as the door swung open and my brother swaggered into the room as if it were his personal domain. As was typical since they were kids, Oliver, our Pack Healer was directly behind him, his presence blending into my brother's shadow perfectly.

I was three years older than my brother, Erik, but unless one knew that fact, there was no way to tell that even after observing our interactions. Not only had Erik sprung up a whole foot and gained almost fifty pounds of muscle since he'd gotten his wolf last summer, but even when he'd been shorter than me, he still treated me like I was the younger sibling.

Granted, it often suited my purpose just fine, since I hadn't minded much being spoiled, but in instances like this, I hated it.

In any case, I needed to convince my brother to take me with him.
