“Speak,” Valen instructed softly. Somehow it was worse than if he’d shouted.
There were six of us seated in Valen’s office. Valen was sitting across from me. Lucas and Meredith were sitting to my left with Ezra and Liz to my right.
Liz was the one who had reported that Bethany was missing. She’d left a note for Liz explaining that this wasn’t her home, and she was leaving and wouldn't come back. With the note and everything else factoring in, it was more accurate to say she had run away than was missing. No one had said that out loud, however.
The succinct order had been directed at me. For some reason, I was currently under scrutiny. If I could view everything logically, and someone in the group HAD to be guilty, I supposed I was the most likely suspect. But I couldn't be logical at all.
I was hurt.
And angry.
I took a deep breath and attempted to sort through my thoughts. “I’ve been having dreams about a girl. Her name is Sunny.”
