Chapter 26: What's the Plan?

“What’s the plan then?” Marion prodded aloud a few mornings later. Time for resting was lost on them, even when Morigana had politely informed they needed to slow down. She’d even told them that if they kept trying to run around and get going, it’s liable they’d just collapse out of exhaustion or stress. Stress, however, gave Marion their best plans. All of their best ideas came out when they were under stress and in times of crisis, they had a clear head. They liked to think so, anyway.

“The plan for what, my darling?”

Eris had, for the first time in many months, taken the time to braid his hair. In the center of it was the bronze ornament that Marion had gifted to him. It seemed as if he had, perhaps, made sure to draw special attention to it.

“The plan to go forward and back to the capitol? The woods are thick with ashen-kin, so clearly it’d be foolish to go alone.”
