Chapter 41: Consumption

The pool of blood where Eris had laid erupted into a cloud of icy, red mist. The great silver dragon shook himself, scales glittering in the dim light that remained, before narrowing his hunt upon the beast. The ceiling crumbled as he stood to his fullest height, wings outstretched. The freezing aura around him began to generate sleet and hail as the storm poured down through the opened ceiling.

“So…” Ouranos began to laugh, his chase for Marion and Jacket quickly forgotten. “It seems that you still live. A pity,” he hissed, lurching towards Eris. Marion had barely made a mark, many wounds restored by the sacrifice of the ashen-kin crowding the retinue. “Why don’t you do your old man a favor, huh?” An unnatural grin crossed the demon king’s face. “Stay still so I can carve your heart out. And be quiet, while I’m at it.”
