Chapter 35: Growing Danger

“What do you mean?” Tris asks with a frown. She can’t imagine how the mainland being taken over by outsiders could possibly affect the other Isles.

“The Kingdom has always provided protection for the Isles. The creatures that live there are the last of their kind. The humans on the outer lands would do anything to get their hands on the magic that exists here,” she explains, causing Tris to listen intently.

She had no idea that the different Isles were home to other creatures. She’s always known the lands contained magic, but Tris didn’t know the magic was in the form of other creatures.

“If the Queen is successful, and they take over the palace on the mainland, there will be no one to protect these places,” Nora continues. “I fled in order to warn Draco of the plans, hoping we could prevent it from happening.”

“What do we do?” Tris asks, feeling overwhelmed by the bad news.
