The winter air was cold and unforgiving especially at this time. I shivered feeling extremely cold thanks to only being dressed in jeans and a simple oversized T-shirt. I didn't think I'd be out for this long, I also didn't expect to be sitting beside a corpse but here I was.

Getting up from beside the girl where I had been sitting for over an hour now, I head to Shawn's car that was the only source of light and look for something to keep myself warm.

I told him to take his jacket that was previously covering the girls body and to burn it. I watched enough investigation discovery shows to know that could be enough to link him to the crime.

I spot three cans of beer and immediately grab them. I need to get drunk, well drunk enough for it to look like I really did it.

Sitting in the passenger seat I began downing the first can. I could already imagine myself in court, I see myself accepting all the charges without any fighting. Then I'll spend the rest of my life in jail.

After awhile I finally finish drinking all the beer. Looking down at my clothes I realize I looked too clean. The girls body was pulled out of a ditch, I had to be covered in dirt and blood to make things more believable.

I stumble out of the car to the side of the road where I start rubbing dirt all over my clothes and made sure to get dirt under my nails too.

"I need some scars from crawling out the ditch..." I say to myself grabbing a sharp rock.

I realized what I was doing was a crime in itself, if Shawn were to get caught I would still be seen as a accessory to murder. All of this won't be worth it if he is caught so I must do everything I can to protect Shawn.

With this in mind I made thousands of tiny cuts all over my body. I was bleeding all over but didn't care.

After all that I still needed the girls blood on me which was by far the worst part of all of my actions. Slowly I made my way to her, crying again as I felt like I was nothing but a monster.

"I...I know I have no right to ask you to forgive me but please...forgive me."

I try my best to get some of her blood on me but its difficult as most of it dried up. Sobbing I sqeeze the wound on her head to get more blood.

I was disgusted by my actions, I never thought I could hate myself more than I did right now. Satisfied with the blood on me I move to the final phase of my plan.

Shaking I dial my father's number. He doesn't answer as it is really late. I don't stop calling until he eventually answered.

"Sam, Why are you calling me at this time?" He sounded sleepy.

"Dad. I killed someone." I sobbed looking at the girl. She was slightly turning bluish/purplish now, It was a confirmation all of this was true.

My dad was silent for awhile. "Sam. Where are you? Did anyone see?"

"No. I...Am alone on the road that leads to our house."

"Sam listen to me. Do not call the police yet, I will be there darling." He instructs me.

"...but, she is...she is dead."

"Do as I say child!"

"Okay..."

"Stay put, I will be there."

I hang up unable to stop crying. Everything happened so fast I had no time to think things through, I had to act fast. I had to protect Shawn. This was my duty as his big sister.

Two cars pull up to the scene causing my heart to race. I had to be prepared to go to jail.

"Samantha!" Dad's voice rang out. He runs to my side immediately hugging me.

"Dad...I killed her, I was drunk and I...I."

"We both know that's not true...Samantha you are never to admit to this, do you realize what could happen to our family's reputation if this got out?" His words shock me.

"...This will be seen as nothing but an accident that was caused by that girl." "Thats why he is here!"

I spot the creepy looking dude with a sharp nose. The man kept looking around the scene and writing down stuff in his notebook.

"We need to begin the clean-up and her body needs to be returned to her car after we pump alcohol into her." The strange guy says looking at the girl on the dirt.

I turn to my father in shock. "I will take responsibly dad! Why should you do that?!"

"To prevent you from spending the rest of your life in jail!" Dad shouts.

I shake my head in disbelief realizing I wasn't the only monster in our family. My father was also willing to cover up a murder without thinking twice.

"No!"

"You need to sober up now, we will make the accident look fresh, Mr leon over there will handle everything." Dad drags me to his car sitting me in the passenger seat.

"I will have to give you an undectable drug that will make you unconscious, when you wake up you'll be in a hospital." Dad said giving me water and a pill.

"Drink." He instructs seeing the hesitation on my face.

"Dad...this isn't right." I protested.

He grabs the pill shoving it in my mouth and forcing me to drink water so It can go down.

We struggle abit but I eventually swallowed the bitter pill.

"...I feel sick." I said resting my head on his dashboard. "I can't believe this is real."

"It's going to be okay...I will make sure everything goes away." He says patting my head.

"I just want to go to jail."

"Don't talk nonsense, you are my daughter, I can't let that happen."

Before I could respond I see another car pull up. My father places his hand on mine.

"It's only Michael, don't be alarmed."

"Dad-"

"Don't worry, he will help us out, I promise everything will be fine."

Michael runs over to us looking worried. It looked like he came over in a rush as he seemed disheveled.

"Samantha!" He called out desperately.

"Michael, she's okay don't worry."

Relief washes over his face when his eyes land on me.

"I was worried sick she was dead. Stephan...where is the corpse you mentioned?"

"Over there." Dad points over at the girl who had her whole life ahead of her and now is merely being reffered to as a corpse.

Michael goes to take a look with dad. I watch Michael who is left stunned. He looks at the girl in disbelief, almost like what he was seeing wasn't real.

He mutters something in japanese then walks away with my father. The two talk but I am unable to hear anything.

Feeling dizzy I rest my head on the dashboard again. My eyelids suddenly felt heavy and I struggled to open my eyes.

The last thing I saw was the strange guy injecting something into the girls arm.

"I...I am sorry." I whispered slowly drifting away.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My eyes felt heavy as I slowly opened them. My body was in pain and it felt like I was cut my a knife all over.
Shawn was sitting beside my bed with swollen eyes due to crying and looked like he lost weight too. I felt sorry to see him like that at his young age.
"Don't move!" Shawn says quickly moving to my side. I tried to move my left arm but couldn't.
I was handcuffed to the bed. A small smile spread on my face.
"Am I arrested?"
Shawn shakes his head no. "I heard dad talk to the officer and it seens that the other driver was heavily intoxicated, She was also speeding."
All that was bullshit. It wasn't true. It was a messed up lie to keep me away from jail.
The door opens and mom walks in with a cold look on her face.
Shawn looks over his shoulder happily.
"Mom!" He gets up. "Look, Samantha is awake."
Mom looks at me with a grim expression. "Get out of this room now Shawn."
"But-"
"Out!"
Shawn looks at me apologetically and leaves us alone. I knew my mother was going to be the only one to be honest about how she feels about my actions.
