Needing Him

EMERY

When I wake up, I'm immediately surprised I could sleep at all. I didn't think I'd still be able to, especially so soon. However, when I manage to discern a masculine scent in my sheets, I immediately understand the reason for my sleep. Arwan.

Instinctively, I turn to look at him, but the other end of the bed is empty. The blanket is over me, but the mark of his body is still there, as if he's just left.

I don't know why I'm so disappointed not to find him, or even why I feel my chest compress slightly. I can't understand why he left without telling me.

Straightening up, I inspect my room a little more carefully—well, the Johnson's guest room. Everything is in order, and nothing has changed for two years.

The first thing I notice is Arwan's T-shirt on the edge of the bed. I grab it immediately and, like a madwoman, start smelling it to soak up his scent. My muscles relax immediately, and I feel a little less alone.
