The Reason for Your Existence

Last night, Ansgar had tasked Madam Geneviere with something urgent. She had to bring Yohana to his chamber, whatever method she used. In the morning, he found that Madam Geneviere had completed the task. She had proven herself to be useful, and Ansgar was pleased.

But what happened subsequently was upsetting.

"Will you be happy if I only pretend to love you? Will you be happy if I cry when I am by your side? It will only torture us both. Why can't you understand?"

Yohana shook her head, tears rushed down to her cheeks and down to the floor, leaving a dark circle shadow on the carpet. "Please don't do this. Please let me go. Please…"

Why did she suddenly speak about happiness? What was it exactly? Queen Charlotte never taught him that. For all Ansgar knew, she had never been happy, but she kept on living because of something, and that something was making Ansgar the next king of Reichwein.
