Preparation

"Master, what exactly happened?"

Xiao Chen felt a bit confused, there shouldn't be any big trouble that occurred during the struggle for the throne of the Han Empire in his previous life. These problems only occurred in the Capital and did not directly impact the Valley of the Hundred Swords but Fang An's reaction indicated that something very serious was going on.

Fang An was actually a little hesitant to tell Xiao Chen but he felt that his disciple needed to know, "Chen'er, maybe you don't understand but in the Capital there is a struggle for the throne that will determine the future of the Han Empire…"

Several years ago a struggle for the throne occurred because one of the Princes who was Yin Song's brother had teamed up with and gained the support of the black sect to become the leader of the Han Empire.

The current Emperor of Han disapproves of the Prince's wishes and so enlists the help of the four white sects to support the Crown Prince, Yin Song becomes the new Emperor of Han. Each sect then dispatched their respective Sect Leaders to protect the Capital as well from the black sects.

Yin Song's letter said something had happened in the Capital and made two of the four white sects that supported him withdraw from involvement in the usurpation. Yin Song did not go into details about the event in question for fear that this letter would fall into the wrong hands.

What was certain was that if it wasn't for the Han Emperor begging Jiang Kun directly, the Valley of the Hundred Swords also intended to withdraw. The Han Emperor asked Jiang Kun to call more Sword Elders to cover for the other warriors who had retreated but Jiang Kun refused.

Yin Song finally came to Jiang Kun and talked about his intention of inviting Fang An. Jiang Kun said that if Fang An was willing to come voluntarily then Jiang Kun would not forbid him.

"The future has changed again… Does it have anything to do with the Crown Prince's wife not dying?" thought Xiao Chen who was so surprised to hear the news.

As far as he could remember in the struggle for the throne in his previous life there was no such thing as this. Mu Rong's death in the past life seemed to have had a serious impact on everything that happened before, while because Mu Rong was living in this life, something had changed and ended up in this situation.

"Chen'er, Master cannot refuse the Crown Prince's request, he has given me so many medicines to help my condition…"

"Master, let this disciple come with you. This disciple wants to gain experience in the outside world as well…"

Xiao Chen's words surprised Fang An, in his opinion Xiao Chen was still too young to gain experience in the outside world especially in such a dangerous situation. Even though physically, Xiao Chen looked like a 12 to 13 year old child but still he was actually only 8 years old.

Xiao Chen realized that Fang An had reservations about inviting him, "Master, apprentice feels that this is a good opportunity to both train and fulfill the promise with Princess Xuehua… After all, apprentice has long been curious about the sights of the Capital…"

Fang An finally couldn't refuse after Xiao Chen kept coaxing him, he had to admit Xiao Chen was also skilled at speaking, "We're leaving in a few days, there's something Master needs to take care of first, Chen'er you also prepare your things."

Xiao Chen looked so happy when Fang An agreed to take him along, actually the reason Xiao Chen insisted on coming along was because he was worried. Xiao Chen was certain that he would not be able to rest easy when Fang An went to the Capital to face an unknown situation.

Even though Xiao Chen didn't have the skills to help Fang An yet, with his knowledge and insight, maybe he could help in a different way.

Xiao Chen basically didn't have much apart from a few pieces of clothing, so he used those few days to harvest as much Water Ginseng as he could because he didn't know how long this trip would last.

At least Xiao Chen had prepared enough Water Ginseng for him to consume for one more year.

The day before departure, Fang An took Xiao Chen to visit the War Sword Pavilion. The building is the repository of all the weapons owned by the Valley of the Hundred Swords, members can buy weapons in this place with money or exchange them for the value of contributions to the sect.

"Chen'er you have good sword skills for your age, Master will give you a sword because you also have to learn to protect yourself on the way." Fang An explained his intention of bringing Xiao Chen here, "It's just that Master doesn't have much in his savings anymore, can't buy you a good sword now…"

Fang An smiled shyly but Xiao Chen understood his teacher's situation. During the past year Fang An did not carry out missions to train Xiao Chen, all of his wealth had been spent on buying medicine as well as Xiao Chen's training resources.

If Yin Song hadn't sent him even a letter in the near future Fang An would definitely have left the sect to undertake several missions to provide for the Bamboo Sword Villa's needs.

Xiao Chen didn't really have many options, even though his body grew faster than most kids his age but Xiao Chen was still like a 12 to 13 year old so his body wasn't ideal for wielding a long sword for an adult.

Fang An finally chose one of the short swords and gave it to Xiao Chen. When Xiao Chen checked the quality of the sword, he couldn't help but smile faintly.

In the world of martial arts, weapons have their own qualities. The lowest was of ordinary quality, like the sword Xiao Chen currently held. This sword is not bad but it is usually used by ordinary humans and warriors rather than warriors like him.

A weapon of average quality like this could only be used to kill a few people before it became dull and unusable. If these swords were of better quality then they would be called elite quality, usually these weapons were created by skilled blacksmiths.

Among the elite weapons there would be even more qualified ones that even had names because the makers were famous blacksmiths. This quality of weapons is referred to as renowned quality or named weapons.

Xiao Chen looked around, he could see that half of the War Sword Pavilion were ordinary weapons, while the other half were elite weapons that first class and expert warrior generally used. Xiao Chen could also see that there were dozens of weapons on display that were of very good quality and were named weapons.

What was interesting was that Xiao Chen could see that some of the swords stored in special places were emitting an unusual aura.
